Wow if real.

17,700 must be the ceiling for low miles LC’s

There's also this one (I have no affiliation or knowledge beyond what's in the ad).

Factor in a TB service. No sticker visible in the engine bay pic.

I think it’s the same dude selling both. He won’t give out the VIN#s. Will only accept cash, no cashier checks. I Almost bought a 2003 from him few months back with 90K miles. Before I handed him the cash I told him I needed to pull the carfax on my own phone. He jumped in the truck and sped off. I’m pretty sure it’s the same dude. Write ups are similar, super low mile 100 Series. He’s Trying to find someone who’s not gonna pull the carfax.

I think this is an ongoing scam in CA. Here is another one: 2005 LEXUS LX470 AWD. At least one of these photos was on a similar ad posted back in April. If you text this "seller" and ask for the VIN, what you'll get is photos of what looks like a carfax artfully arranged so you can't see the full VIN. To my eye, the docs look edited. The "seller" also pretend to not understand what I meant by "pre-purchase inspection." There's no free lunch. Insist on a VIN and pre-purchase inspection and you can avoid these clowns.

Yup. I’ll buy a beer for anyone who can get the VIN on this one.

I was texting this guy for about a week about this car. He refused to show me the VIN number then got aggressive with me after I told him I wasn’t interested without the vin. What’s the end game with these people? Does the car even exist?

I think the scam is to try to get an out of state buyer to wire a deposit to hold the car or send the entire purchase price, buyer thinking maybe the seller doesn’t know what he/she has and they lucked into a deal. Telltale signs or a scam include
  1. Seller won't or not available to show the car to a local buyer.
  2. Pictures do not show a license plate,
  3. Seller won’t tell you the vin.

Another variant was a guy here in San Diego who had a really nice looking LC with very low miles showing on the odometer at below market price. Again the seller would not disclose vin over the phone, saying he was worried about “title theft.” He also had a bogus CarFax with the vin blacked out. When I inspected the car and ran the vin, car came back with multiple prior owners, several accidents and 360k miles.

Maybe I'm reading into this too much...what's interesting is that SD never reaches 100 degrees, especially by the beach area. Maybe he took the picture when he was somewhere inland/desert...who knows.

Good luck to others if you want to hunt this one down!..I tried to contact other CL posts in the past with low LC/LX miles and as others have mentioned, as soon as you ask for VIN numbers, they kind of shut down.

Below are the links (previous ones are deleted) and images I noticed as of today (10/1). Both 2001 and 2006 have extremely low mileages!
