Hi everyone,

Got a reply back, and they are wondering what years/engine types would the hoses cover. Just to double check with everyone this would be 1993-1997 1FZ-FE.

Off the top of anyones head, would you happen to know if the hose configuration is the same for the diesel engines or carburated ones? Or 3FE's maybe?

Thanks.

The intake hose is different for 93-94 and 95-97 or I'm pretty sure it is due to the different airflow sensor configurations.

Alright, so a silicone air intake hose will only work for 95-97 years on a 1FZ but not for 93-94. Anybody else can confirm this?

Also,
Is there anything else that might be interchangable between diesels/carburated or 3FE's as far as hose configurations go?

Thanks guys.

I'm saying that there would be two different hoses. If the member who colunteered hid air intake hose has a 93-94 then that's the one Samco would make.

Oh ok, i was a little confused for a second.

Thats what i needed to know. I guess we'll have to do two seperate ones?

I asked about getting an estimate on the hoses for you guys and this is the reply i got back:

----------------
Hello Jacob,

Thank you for the information, unfortunately I have never seen the hoses so could not give any indication of a price.

Could you take some photos of the hoses along with an engine bay shot of their locations?

Best Regards,

Mark.
-----------------

So, for you guys with the extra hoses lying around (i do have the radiator ones, so that is not a problem), would you be able to take pictures of them and upload them on mud? Also, anyone already have pictures of the engine bay with visible hoses on hand?

Thanks.

Here's from a thread where I was wondering where each one went.

I'm not sure of the completeness of it.

I know there are still people who haven't looked at this poll yet, so still waiting a week for more numbers to come....

... I want to be numbered as well.

Oh, heck yeah I'm in!

I was in some manner interested when I did my HG 2 years back, but just lost momentum.

I had a set on my old Corrado, and a set on my BMW when it had a S14 (factory) motor - you just can't beat their hoses.

BJowett knows what I'm saying, I'm 99% he's got a set on his C.

Romer - I know it sounds like a un-needed part, but once you have a set in hand, you'll really rethink you view, I know I did.

That said, Samco has been kind of quirky to deal with in the E30 M3 BMW community - there was a time when it took an act of Congress to get them to produce the last few hoses needed.

I hope we can get a complete set of all coolant bearing hoses from the get-go.

Also, expect 2 weeks to mean 2 months when dealing with Samco directly. They always follow through, but never on time.

Also, if need be - I can get the ABA style clamps in the sizes we need - they are really the correct clamp to use on these & really reduce any wear if you need to pull components attached - these are lifetime hoses, so realize you will undo them to replace other things over time.

LMK if you need ABA's - I'd just need a sizing & quantity list then we can put together a full kit to compliment the hoses.

This thread makes my day - that's how much I think of Samco hoses.

I'm a 1fz as well, so count me in for a set.

PM me if you want to pursue ABA clamps

94 cruiser

i'm in, as long as price is good, and fits a 94 rig

I'm in, but I would also like to see about getting some vacuum hose in silicone as well. Why? Because!!!:flipoff2:

I'll be getting back on the price soon....

I'm just waiting on seeing what you guys would like included in the kit. Just radiator hoses, radiator, fhh, phh, pcv, ect. and color preference....

This should give the guys over at Samco a good base to do an estimate on.

Silicone hoses do hold up to high temps better than the OEM,
but they also abrade easier. The SAMCO are also fairly expensive;

Silicone does not "stick" to the metal pipes like rubber does
so you must use the Constant Torque clamps ($5 each at NAPA)
to keep them from leaking during the hot-cold cycling of the engine.

They also seep through their sidewalls more also; so you lose
a bit of antifreeze even with no apparent leaks.

The only exception is the PHH which is in a high heat area
and as we know, difficult to replace. I recall in some years of Cadillacs they use an OEM silicone hose in a hard to reach area
for the water pump for the same reason.

When I replaced my PHH I used GATES Green Stripe; will outlast
the OEM rubber. GATES also makes a green silicone heater hose;
about $8 a foot, and a super industrial strength cloth wrapped 4 ply silicone hose that is $15 a foot, but is too stiff to use with any application requiring much of a bend.

I could see doing it if the price was right in black, or maybe blue.

Bumping this 'cause I want to see this happen.

Samco is a PITA to deal with - A bunch of us E30M3 (BMW's) just got word they finally are offering a complete kit - all they had to do was add 5 hoses to a 9 hose package they had, but it took over a year from first contact to now them taking the order.

So if this gets off the ground late this year we **might** have hoses in time for Christmas '08.

As for those asking for a price - most sets from them retail from $175 - $250, and real ABA clamps for all connections normally go for $45 for a full package. Don't cheap out on the clamps either, not worth buying the hoses without the right clamps IMO.

Just did my hoses last year and wish this had been available then. I'd be in though if it does happen.

It does not look like any hoses will interchange with the 1HD-T or 1HD-FT, us diesel guys would also likely want the turbo outlet to intake crossover hose as well.

The Terrain Tamer kit + OEM turbo outlet to intake crossover hose is ~$150 locally so if there was a complete kit including clamps for $250 or less I may be interested. Otherwise the factory hoses on mine were still in good enough shape after 17 years to keep them as spares.

Personally, the big radiator hoses are best bought OEM considering that they are quality hoses--my 1997 hoses were still in great shape when I replaced them in 2006. I kept the OEM big hoses and put constant torque clamps on them (NAPA has a number of different sizes ranging from $2.50-$7.00 per clamp).

For all of the rest of the hoses, you can easily get a 10ft length of blue or red Gates heater hose and do the rest of them yourself with some good clamps and be done with it for another 10 years.

That's what I am doing right now with the rebuild--big molded/shaped radiator hoses=OEM. Everything else, red or blue Gates with NAPA clamps.
