Does anyone have a map of saguaro lake?? I am goin up there this weekend and I used to know my way around pretty well but haven't been there for a couple years and would feel better armed with a map.

Topomaps can be had at the state land department (at least a dollar cheaper) or Wide World of Maps. Sorry, no help here, I'm out of town. Even with a map, it is confusing, so many 'wild' trails.....

download USAPhotomaps and you can get all the USGS topo maps you want for free. As for the trails, they take off out of Butcher Jones, then pretty much wherever you want...

I'm pretty sure we were camped right down the wash from you Sat nite. Hopefullyt the yahoos shooting each other over their fighting dogs didn't keep you up:rolleyes: Shoulda stopped by though when you saw the X'..Heck we even had some Toys. An 80,62, and a 4 runner. You'da fit right in :)

Oh yea, the pic in the sig does look like the 40 right down from us. When I came in I went slow by your camp spot but didn't see anyone~ there was a fire going though.

Sat night about 6ish.

That was us!! We were out takin pictures about that time. How close were you guys to those dog fighting idiots?? It sounded like a pretty nasty fight from where we were but could not see anything.

I was probably about 75-100 feet away- testing out the new truck tent, sleeping inside- so I wasn't real comfortable with those idiots fighting and shooting their gun (while drunk)

basically, someone's pitbull attacked a nice camp dog. The camp dogs owner was kicking the pitbull and after the fight ended, the camp dogs owners were crying and saying the pitbull bit the camp dogs ear off. The camp dogs owner (being full of liquor) got upset and "tough"- claming he was going to cut the pitbull's throat or shoot it.

All of a sudden you hear a jeep start and a guy yelling "stop, stop, I'm going to shoot your f-ing dog" and then a gunshot. Mind you, it's very crowded down there. Families, kids, dogs, women... you get the point. This is why I hate camping with the Bud light crowd.

So after the gunshot, the owner of the pitbull starts yelling "You want to shoot him? here, I'll hold him down and if you're so mad- you shoot him!"

As soon as this happens, the camp dogs owner is not as tough as he once was and says "I don't want to~ you just have to watch your dog"

Yada, yada, yada- noise, noise, noise~ So when we got up at 5:30 to work the triathalon, I made sure to pay them back by making all kinds of noize while THEY were sleeping.

Tards! They're lucky they didn't accidently kill someone.

and all this is why I try to avoid Saguaro lake on weekends... Too many retards for me and the family to enjoy.

You aren't kidding. They could easily have killed someone. I heard most of the argument and Definately heard the gunshot. Drunk idiots with guns..........what a combination. I had alot of fun at the lake but I think I might try to find different place to camp next time......I heard the 2nd cove is nice.:)

I've never camped there, but all of the coves are trashed. Even the third cove is littered with little piles of TP everywhere...

I was parked no further than maybe 20 yards away, behind a large bush. I missed the dog fight, but woke to the woman crying and the 2 asswipes beginning to fight. I sprung up immediately and checked for my Akita, Shoki, who was stationed (off a leash) outside of my X in which I was sleeping. He was standing alert, ready to kick some ass :D Sad thing is, a girl in our club, Georgie, just came back from Talil, Iraq, as a SGT in the Army. She'd been there, surviving for almost a year and came back to a filthy rec spot, and genepool tub scum. :frown: She was also standing outside her truck, at alert.

Went out this morning putzing around and decided to use USAPhotomaps and record my route around the coves. Didn't have time to do much exploring (too busy picking up pieces of my broken fender flare) but came out over The Rolls. If anyone doesn't have this program yet, it rockes...

All the alcohol, trash and idiots keep me out of Saguaro.....unless it's the trail to Sandy Beach.....keeps all but the serious wheeler's out with the obstacles. Watch out for Africanized bees there though.....some friends were back at Sandy Beach a month or so ago and got seriously attacked; a few had to be hospitalized.

Yep, but Tuesday mornings are pretty quiet...

Those scare me....

Which beach is Sandy Beach? Is that the beach at the very back of the lake, up in the no wake zone? I thought that beach was on accesible by boat.

Of is it the beach that Rob went to on his map?

Jared

Yep.....the back of the lake. There is a trail.....I have not done it, but from what I hear it's pretty much 38" or bigger tires required on most vehicles with the accompanying appropriate equipment (lockers f/r, low gearing, lots of clearance and articulation, a penchant for body damage).

Sounds like fun, huh? I can't wait til I get my damn vehicle back together so I can actually go run it. :)

Any meteorite hunters in this group? I read in the paper that a meteorite supposedly landed near Saguaro Lake.
