Hey guys,
My floating axel is missing 2 axel flange studs one of them has been off for about a year but the other day I was tightening the other 5 and 1 sheered off, a little bit of diff fluid was leaking but since tightening the others the leak has stopped. I also have 2 of the 4 dowel pins intact not sure when the 2 broke off. So I still have 4 tight studs and 2 dowels, I have to drive a few hours will it hold up until I can get to a mechanic in the new year?

If it’s like a 80 full float ( I think it is ) then there’s only two dowel pins. The other two small holes should be threaded and are used to facilitate removing the axle.
Where they all lose if so then they have been compromised.
Are you using a torque wrench those bolts should be torqued to 26f/p
Really not a good idea to drive it like that, if you must, drive really easy on it !! Or pull the rear drive shaft and use 4 high.
To be clear if you do drive in 2 high there a chance it could let go and destroy the hub !

You will most likely be fine keep an eye on the remaining bolts and make sure they’re tight.
Like every time you stop check them 😜

Man someone has beaten the crap out of that drive flange 🤷‍♂️
