Safari Snorkel and the Power Antenna

I wasn't able to get Safari 4x4's email to work. So, I emailed ARB (their distributor). They told me, "Manufacturers, unfortunately, can not cater to every diriviative of every model and make." Thanks for the business lesson ARB... First of all, spell "derivative" correctly. Secondly, Toyota sold more than 50,000 UZJ100's in the U.S. alone, not including LX's - not exactly a niche market. If I could do it over, I would not have bothered with Safari. Their whole selling point is UV resistance. By the time the knock-off fades (if it fades faster), I can buy three more and still beat Safari's price.

For future snorkel investors with a power antenna, don't even bother with Safari.

I wish I would have done more research on this before I put it on last year's Xmas list! My wife got if for me from Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters. Not sure I still have the receipt but do have everything in the box, however it's opened. Might still be cheaper to just sell it on Craigslist for a discounted price, and then buy the Amazon "cheapo" version as you guys suggest.

Yes as @benc stated, my eBay snorkel already came pre-notched for the antenna. I remember seeing someone on here that installed a RHD antenna in their driver side fender to replace the one lost by the snorkel.
Can you tell me which eBay one you went with it? Has it held up?

Does mounting the snorkel interfere with the ability to add a second battery mounted to the passenger side inner fender area... in front of the AHC reservoir? I know the Slee tray is only for non-AHC models, but someone on this forum managed to a fab a mount for a second battery in that area WITH AHC, and that's on my short list of upcoming additions. A snorkel would be fun, and maybe even FUNctional, but if it obviates the ability to put a battery there, down the list it shall be kicked..

For 1998-2007 Toyota Land Cruiser 100 Series Black Air Intake Snorkel System Kit | eBay

It held up great, no complaints.

No, doesn’t go anywhere near that area.

Bumping this discussion. Can someone post a link to their eBay or Amazon snorkel that work out well? After reading the ARB and Ironman snorkel reviews, I don't want to go down the Antenna road.

Thanks.

Heat up a 1"-1 1/2" metal pipe and reshape the plastic where the antenna goes. You can make a divot big enough for the anteanna to pass by.
Thanks for the info. I'm looking to try a 1.5" copper pipe.

I’m new to this forum and 100s so forgive my ignorance. My truck has Snorkel on the passenger side and antenna is on drivers side. Some people have antenna on passenger side!?!

All I have seen have passenger side antennas. Someone may have relocated the antenna to the driver side when the Snorkel was installed.

Finally snagged a Safari snorkel. It should be here Thursday unless there is a shipping delay.

One step closer to finishing the build with the snorkel addition today.

Little Rock's 4x4 Mud Connection did the snorkel mod by heating a piece of 1" copper pipe and forming the divet in the snorkel body.

@Ramathorn15 Now I need to order an Owl Expedition snorkel vent cover.

I look small compared to the 4Runner and the 80 series.

I took it out for a 30 mile "fast" interstate drive last night. Here's the funny part from the drive:

Before the snorkel installation, I had some wind noise around the passenger side A-pillar. It was either from a door seal that was damaged from a theft attempt with one of the previous owners or the aftermarket windshield installation that used screws. It was just noticeable enough to be iriitating. I plan to replace door seals and fix the windshield in the near future.

Now after the snorkel installation, the noise is gone. I don't know what happened but I'm loving the results. Now that the passenger side A-Pillar noise is gone, I can hear other wind noises from the driver side door seal.

Bottom Line

No wind noise from the new snorkel.

I should’ve snagged this type of safari snorkel when I had the chance 2-3 yrs ago, now no one sells them anymore just the ARmax version (bigger one). I like this one more, slim and period correct.

I'm on a waiting list for another one. I get into some tight places that require my mirrors to be tucked in. I would like to keep this look.
