My buddy wants me to shoot down and buy a 80 series in the Roseville Area from a dealer.

They have 3 cruisers 1993-1995-1997, the dealership is called Ideal Cars.

Any feedback on these guys would be appreciated, me and my wife are looking to fly down on the Pismo weekend. Hope to pop by and stay the weekend before making the trip back the Vancouver Island.

Thanks'
Rob

I have never heard of them, but I'm working in Roseville today and will try to find out. I assume you know that Sacramento is a long way from Pismo! If you want a ride to Pismo from Sac, I can help. If you want to hook up for a brew and some Cruiser chat, I know most of the local guys.

Norcal Doug lives in Roseville and he may be more help with the dealer that you mention. You could PM him.

Do you have an address or phone? I just did a quick search for them with no luck.

I did a quick check as well. Couldn't locate it, but there are quite a few independent dealerships around.

Let me know if I can be of help. I live in Roseville.

Thanks guys, its a big last minute thing on my end and I have to get the Vins etc for customs and paperwork together before coming down.

I look forward to meeting quite a few people in the cruiser community that I have spoken with over the past few years, my first landcruiser function ever!!!!!!!!

The phone is 916-773-4549 and Rusty is our contact thier.

How long a trip to Pismo from Roseville????

Rob

5 hours in an 80, 6 hours in a 60. I'm leaving Sacramento on Thursday at 6am, back Sunday late afternoon.

In case this helps (from http://yp.yahoo.com):

I-Deal Cars

Address:
800 Riverside Ave # A
Roseville, CA 95678

Phone: (916) 773-4549

I don't know, man...
"I-deal" sounds pretty bad to me...

Too funny. It's amazing what a little thing like a dash does. "Ideal" didn't look familar, but as soon as I say "I-Deal", I recognized the name immediately! I drive past that place when take my daughter to daycare -- I know exactly where that is.

Hopefully it's not a dealer with a gravel lot, lots of little flags and a trailer for an office.

Well...not quite...but not all that far off.
The lot is located in the area where all the auto dealerships lived long ago. Most of the larger dealerships have moved to the local automall, leaving their old lots behind for idenpendent sales guys. Doesn't look all that shady as I drive by...

Hmmmm, my wife has called another guy in the Nor Cal area and he is the original owner of a 1995 80 series with dif locks and the works 180K and he is looking for around 9500.00.

I guess we may look at that one also.

Hey NorCalDoug, would you have a minute to stop and look at that rig for us???

Flight is booked for us so were coming awn down.......

Thanks
Rob

Sure, no problem. Just PM me with the info and I'll take a look for you. Let me know if you have others you want me to check out as well.

Your cruiser was bought in Roseville.
My first 80 was bought in Roseville.
My wife's 450 was bought in Roseville.
Sactocruiser's LC was bought in Roseville.
Offrdkid's LC was in bought Roseville.
Currenlty there's a locked 450 and a locked LC (both '96) in Roseville.
(not including the one's that Radd Cruisers is checking out)

No. :flipoff2:

Seriously though, I don't know...I don't think it's any sort of specialized cruiser area, but there are quite a few dealerships around here with 80s.

I happen to run across a bunch because my daily route to and from work takes me past a bunch of dealerships. If I see one, I'll stop to check for lockers -- if they're there, I let people know about them. :D

Cruiserdrew offered to look at it for me, thanks for the offer.

I'll get a chance on Thursday, if Doug goes by today, that would speed up your process. One great thing about the Sac/Roseville area is the lack of rust on vehicles. We are far enough from the ocean, have mostly warm dry weather, and no road salt or snow ever. My FJ60 lived it's whole life in a garage in Roseville untill I bought it, and it doesn't have a spec of corrosion. Seeing the pics of the extensive rust in other areas is yet one more reason I'm glad I live here. Assuming the Cruiser in question is a local ride, the body at least should be nearly perfect.

Interesting thread. I bought my 80 from a guy in Roseville two years ago. Is Roseville some sort of hiding ground of inexpensive 80s?

I remember that! It was just after I moved to Folsom from Port Angeles, WA. I'd been looking for a locked 80 and you came down and bought that one not ten miles from me. As I recall, it was a pretty good deal to boot!

Roseville is a fairly well-off area that is growing rapidly and is an hour drive from Reno and skiing. I think it just may be that it's getting time for all those well-heeled people that bought new 80s to go skiing in the mid-90's to get a new car.

That is pretty funny that Roseville is home to many of our rigs!! I was also fortunate to get a good deal on mine. Thanks Roseville!!
