I recently pickedup a Warn M12000 from work for free. Our mechanics were cleaning out the shop and found it and let me have it. I got the winch, steel cable, hook, controller, and roller fairlead. Everything but the solenoid box, I even have the hose clamps used to hold the box on just no box or wiring. When I got the winch home you couldn't turn the drum in freespool. I don't know what was wrong, but after disassembling the gear end of the winch taking it apart and putting it back together, you can now turn thedrum when in freespool. This winch does not have the 88 or 85 ball bearings in it. I took the motor off and it turns easily. I know there is a way to test the winch without the solenoid pack on it, I saw it somewhere on here I just dont remember where. Could someone post where to find that info at or give me an idea how to go about this. I've tried hooking up battery cables to it but I thought you had to jump something with a screwdriver. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for the reply. Tapage for some reason whatever you posted want show up it says it's unsupported. Cruiserpilot thanks for the link but my motor has no markings by the the wire connections. I will keep looking. Thanks
