So kids have a couple of days off in Feb from school, and we'd like to take the RV out somewhere in the Wickenburg up to Kingman or over to Ashfork triangle area.

Just wondering if any of you have some ideas where we could get more or less away from folks yet be able to get a 40' diesel pusher into. We'll more than likely be taking the LX but might be taking a Can-am 4 seater if the trailer for it gets built in time. Taking the coach down a decent dirt FS road is not a problem unless there are big breakover issues.

Have 3 labs, so it would be cool to be enough out of the way where we could let them off the hook.

Just one of the areas of this state that in almost 50 years I've never really explored so I have no clue what might be available.

I was looking for something in the same area when I ran across your post. I have been to Burro Creek Campground before, it is N of Nothing, AZ - Wickenburg, never fills up according to the Ranger. Was about as good as it gets for a designated campground in the desert, has trails and a stream. I am not a big fan of "campground" camping, and have been looking for something more remote in the area too so as to be away from general population and maybe a place to run the dogs with water near. Once down by the water (short walk) I had no problems letting the pups run off some energy. Was contemplating taking the kids/dogs again Feb 14-16. I heard the Alamo Lake area is good for this time of year too. I also saw that there is some dry camping in the Vulture mine area that the camper should be able to get to.

Here is what it Burro Creek looked like this last Thanksgiving

^ Looks interesting, and thanks for posting. Britany Spaniel perhaps?

The Vulture mine road looks very do-able from the Sat images.

Burro Creek camp ground isn't bad and never busy. Found ourselves the only ones there on numerous occaisions. Running water and flush toilets. Beware of Rattle snakes coiled behind the toilets. Lots of trails to run east towards Bagdad and west towards Alamo Lake. Possible to stay on dirt all the way to Parker.

Brittany or Welsh Springer? We have a Welshie.

I'm still betting on a Brittany. (though I spelled it wrong above :))

We're going to try dispersed camping first on the Vulture Mine road, and if that is not an option due to no sites, or sites I can get the coach into, then we'll head up the road to Burro.

Maybe they plant the rattlers behind the head to encourage rapid evacuation... :p
