Yeah kinda at that point. Don't think I am even going to put up on the lift. Going to keep looking and if i have to pick up an extra OT shift to offset it so be it, in the end it will be less of a headache. It spent its life in IL and Ontario.

not well versed in the rust world for the 100 series (had plenty on my FJ40 back in the day). Considering buying this vehicle - has low miles but has lived FL, IL, and NY...

here are two photos I have so far. Thoughts?

run away? or meh?

I'd get better pictures. They clearly used black spray paint to hide the actual condition. Not always a bad thing if it is disclosed up front and they prepped the surface in an effort to slow the rust. The gas tank cover and front skids rust pretty bad in the rust belt states but aren't critical components.

See if they can take pix of the moving parts around the wheels, things like suspension components, sway bar links, etc. Those are areas I constantly struggle with on my rusty rig.

I'd also ask for pictures of any body rust around front wind shield, on tailgate, especially near the handle, rocker panels in front and behind rear wheels.

Muffler and exhaust pipe looks new. Drive shaft has quite a bit of rust, maybe indication what the other areas look like before getting sprayed by black paint.

There is a fair amount of rust with a poor rustproof paint job on top, it looks like they have painted(sprayed) straight over rust without any prep work, it should of been wirebrushed and then use some sort of eboxy based rust kill before the black went on. It looks like a fairly new paint job and I wouldn't expect it to last that long. I'm not scared of rust to be honest, its just they ruined it with a 5 minute makeover. It will take you days to prep that to any decent standard. you can just go buy a rust free one in the states so I would try that.
