I am talking to the dealer and thinking about picking this up. I know my first gen 4runners but am new to the landcruiser scene. Any more seasoned guys have any opinions on this one? My budget is 7k and i juat want a solid playform to build on

I think it looks like a solid truck in the photos, however never buy it site unseen. I did this one time and it was a mess. A dealer in Austin, TX had a clean FJ60 for sale online. He Told me it looked better in person and that things don't rust in Texas. I wired him the money and flew down to get it. The photos online were not of the same vehicle I purchased. This truck had 2 rust holes in the quarter panel and it was wrecked. By wrecked I mean the entire side dented in and never repaired. I blew up. Threatened to end his life, called the police, ect... I ended up getting my money back, but never again will I buy a personal car without seeing it first.
Keep in mind most dealers will not hold a vehicle for you. If your planning on going to see it, confirm it is there at dealership close the night before. Drive there and be there when they open the next morning. Good luck on it. I think it looks like a nice one. Also, if you want a free carfax vehicle history report first let me know. If you send me the vin number I will run one for you.

Carfax Results.
Sold new on 10/14/1991
06/09/1998 Duplicate Title Issues vehicle had 29,536 miles must have been in error reporting miles at that time because on 07/16/1998 it had 85,642 miles
02/08/2001 Accident reported with another motor vehicle in Arizona. No other information listed.
Several other emission test reported as passed.
11/16/2015 failed emissions test
11/30/2015 Air intake and evap system repaired so you should be good on emissions test now.
That is the highlight report for you.

You are the man. Sorry I have had intermittent computer access and didn't have time to let you know I already ran the carfax and saw those issues as well. I feel guilty for having wasted your time, and sincerely appreciate your efforts.
Unfortunately my work/life situation will not allow me to get out to see this, or any other car not within about 90 miles. If I don't bite the bullet on something I will be waiting forever locally.... I have ordered an inspection through a used inspection service company that came highly recommended to me through a friend who is a small used car dealer/exporter. So though I fully agree with your warning.... against my and your better judgement I may be getting this thing on someone else word. Fingers crossed.

I currently have a first gen 4runner to serve that purpose which I have restored. An addition to my family that I am expecting in a few months demands 4 doors however.

Had the rig inspected. I can surely say the dealer did an amazing job of taking pictures that showed the rig in the best light. The inspector (AIM) was EXTREMELY detailed. Not cheap at $130, but saved me the time of going out there to look, (or making a mistake in a hasty purchase). no rust, but sun damage elsewhere. The images made it look like this was a garage queen, not so much. No documentation of any service records is a tough pill to swallow. Does not appear birfields have been serviced from what I can tell. I may make an offer, but it will likely get balked at.
After looking at several similarly priced vehicles locally I came to the conclusion that this rig is actually in amazing shape. Shipper is picking it up Thursday and dropping it off Friday. Build thread to come. I will be selling my extremely clean restored 1986 4runner now if anyone is interested.
