any of you guys run your 80 without the doors? Other than disconnecting the electrical and throwing away all the trash inside so it doesn't blow out, any other concerns that you all can think of? Other than rain.

too much body flex, heard this from 60 owners who have done it, seems like the doors just don't fit the same ever again. Might not be an issue with an 80.

I don't know where you wheel but the first thing that comes to my mind is a nice sharp stick in the eye.
2) I find on the slanty trails I end up leaning against the door for support.
3) I don't think you could keep much water out that way. A little tough on the electricals.

Concrete - I looked into that about 2 years ago. As Pimp mentions, there is a lot of body flex and it would be possible to tweak it enough so the doors would never go back on. Maybe some type of tube door would work, but I just decided to move on to another project.

Didn't think about the door flex. Reason i ask is it's hot here and not calling for rain for at least 2 weeks. thought it would be nice to take the doors off and ride around since i don't use the AC anyways. So i guess if i'm not really wheelin' it to cause body flex it would be o.k., but if i'm going to wheel it, should keep the doors on. I think i've got it.

I think it would stil be a bad idea. It is a PITA aligning doors. You might end up with some doors that are forever a PITA to close and open with air gaps etc.... Or you could end up taking it to body shop to have them align them which costs $$ Not worth the effort and potential harm in my opinion.

Doors offer a LOT of protection in case of a roll over or invading army of branches, just roll the window down. Much easier and safer.

Dang you guys are the fun police.

Yea, deffinately can't afford to pay body shops to realign doors. I know a kid around here with a jeep cherokee running around with the doors off. Just looked like fun.

just take them off and let us know how it works.
I see lots of cherokee with the doors off and they are a unibody. I think it would be fun but don't want to realign them to get them back on.

[soup nazi] No soup for YOU!

pita to remove the connectors and feed them out the grommet. Also, have you ever picked one up. They are heavy suckers. 3 person job to get them re-mounted unless you have one of those fancy door carrier thingymabobs.

Yes, removing the doors is a good idea
BUT
You have to have a short little guy with you at all times yelling
"Da Plain, Da Plain"

The doors aren't THAT heavy.... I removed and reinstalled my rear door pretty easily...

OK, I guess I am a wuzz. Compared to mini truck doors they are heavy. However on a recent South Dakota wheeling trip we had to use the winch to re-allign the door jambs just to get the doors to fit on the Taco and the mini trucks. :D
