I've been working on my 40 for over 3 years now and I'm [this] close to getting the thing driveable.
Because of this, I'm dreading having to work on it. Its little things like the horn and fan not working, one of the drums is leaking, and I have a rear main leak which has been back burnered for the moment.
I've been looking forward to the day I can finally be able to jump in, turn the key and drive it around for more than 10 minutes without having to tweak something. Every summer I've said to myself "This is the summer I'll be driving it". Hopefully this will be the one.

I'm going to get my whiny ass a beer. Waaaaa

Keep it coming. I live right up the road so if you need some help let me know. We could all do a day of wrenching for you (although I suck at fixing stuff).

Maybe some other YT people could lend a hand??? Sounds like quick and easy stuff. Could prolly get you rolling in a day

Let me know if you need any parts. I still have a lot of stuff kicking around.

Thanks for the support.

Most of the things I need are looking at another 40 to figure out what wire goes where. Since mine is an odd pairing of a 71 and 78, a lot of the wires dont really match up by color or connector. Most of its sorted out, but there are a few I'm stuck on.

I have a set of body mounts I put in the wrong location that need to be changed out. Luckily the replacement is shorter than what is there now, so it doesnt require loosening anything.

Maybe mid June I can host a wrench fest if people want to come out and lend a hand. I have plenty of equipment and tarps if anyone needs to do work of their own.

I am going on 2 years for a TOTAL tear down, replace, strip, repaint, re-asemble and it gets old after a while. I didnt want to do it this way, but thats how it ended up and I just have to suck it up and accept it.

Ya gota step away and do something else to take your mind off it. I find thats the only way to get stuff accomplished, weather its working on a difrent project (like welding a bumper vs engine work) or a difrent truck completly. Gawd knows between work and fun trucks I have enough to keep me busy  (last count there were 9 trucks of various shapes and sizes at my shop)
:D

Yeah I know I know.

On average, I have enough time to actually work on mine 2-3 days per month. Mine is stored 45 minutes away from where I live. It's not easy...

I can relate to losing steam, but your truck's just about there.

Thanks for the offers for help.

This weekend I got the carb issue kind of sorted out, and drove it around a bit.

I guess those of you who have offered have an open invitation to my house June 14 if you can make it. As bait, I will have a couple racks of ribs in the smoker and may fire up the grill. Dont have much beer, but I will pick up a 30 rack of BudLight. Feel free to bring more if you'd like.

I'll put up another thread if you guys can make the date, or suggest another that works.

Rob
