In the last few weeks I did my 180k service. New toyota parts; timing belt, tensioner pulleys, water pump and thermostat and coolant. Now my 2000 lc is running 10- 15 degrees hotter all the time (which really kills the mpg). With the process of elimination (and cash), changed out the thermostat(#2) and even replaced the fan clutch and rad cap. I changed the thermostat again because it was acting like a stuck tstat. I know the fan is working cause my scanguage fluctuates the temp but won't maintain the 195 degree temp I had previously. Hoses are rock hard with pressure but no loss of fluid. After a couple of days of no driving the hoses were still rock hard and under pressure and when I removed the rad cap a gush of coolant flowed out like being hot. Am I chasing air or something worse? Will a new waterpump have different characteristics?

Of course you used the toyota red coolant?

New Toyota water pump and Toyota red coolant (just like the first post says) were replaced with Toyota timing belt and Toyota pulleys and Toyota gaskets on 10/11/12 or a few weeks ago.

Only thing I can think of...did you position the jiggle valve on the t'stat between 11 o'clock and 1 o'clock when you installed it.

My experience w/ my LX and 2 neighbors' cruisers is that the system is relatively bubble free. I fill the radiator, top-off the recovery tank and see about a 1" or so drop in the tank over the course of half a dozen heating/cooling cycles.
