Oh no Michael... for you there will be no snow. Ya, you might crush a snow ball on the exit Sunday but otherwise there will be none.

but do me a favor... bring an extra set of sweat pants and sweat shirt because it might be a bit chilly in the evening. Maybe some gloves too, I know you and cold do not get along well.

Look on the bright side, we'll probably get to have fires!

also, do you plan on dropping in with us on Wed, or are you coming in the Loon side?

Damon, YES, I need your volunteer type help with some trail work that we (Rubithon) has been asked to help with. Tim has stepped up to be our extraordinairy operator, but we'll another 6 volunteers for elbow work. Thank you for stepping up.

Thanks!

Oh GREAT, double locked on snow, and no way to unlock, guess I will just have to bring a full set of chains then.

you know... chains might not be a bad idea.

where do ya get chains for 35s or 37s?

There is a place in SR called Kauth Bros. that can make bout anythin metal you need. Tony, Emerald & I would like to help on the trail work if needed ?

Thanks John!

Thanks John... you ever seen any prices around chains this big? I guessing they are some $$$ spendy...

It was a joke as Micheal Dreamins owns that company. I would guess the guys that run the snow plows would know.

Tony, when and where do you want us for the trail help ????

You can get a set of chains for around $100.00, but they are for 33" tires, the biggest I have seen pre-made, then you add the additional chain, and maybe a cross chain or two into them and Wa Laa !! Chains as big as you want.

You could probably just buy raw chain as well, and make you own, the only thing that buying a set does is give you the latching mechanisms.

I'll team you up with Damon and our Extraordinairy Operator for ROC/FOTR trail repairs.

I'll also be asking experienced folks to help the less experienced exit out thru the snow up top.

Don't worry John, when we need you, we'll find you.

So Tony,
If there is only snow up top, does that mean I can go out backwards and avoid the snow all together?

Come on Michael, don't be so paranoid...if everyone else can make it I think you can:rolleyes:

Don,
ever been in a double locked, non-openable vehicle on ice or snow? NO lateral traction what so ever. You will spend more time sliding than you do driving, and I realy do not think that trail is the spot to be sliding sideways at all!!

SO YES I HATE SNOW,
thats why my motto has always been NO GO WHEN SNOW!!!

Oh awright Michael...guess we'll see you next year. Have fun at the beach :D:

Michael.. I know the Knorr brothers and some of that crew from Bill Jacksons run (including me) will be heading out backwards to Loon on Sunday. Just head out with us....

Tony... I was hoping for some ball park dates or times. I have to be sure I can get the time off (is it the weekend before, Monday and Tuesday of Rubithon weeek, etc.) Im sure I can but need to set the expectation with work.

GEESE Don,
I wouldn't give up that easy, I was kind of planning on coming out backwards this year anyway. I hate having to drive back around to drop my buddy at Ice House. Iffen the Brothers are comin out backwards I will just head out with them if not I am sure I kind find some other victims, oh I mean COMPADRES! to come out with.

And I do still have my chains, dug them out last night so I can fit them up to the new tires.

Michael, are you still considering a tues departure?...being as you haven't given up yet on this little expedition.

Chains!!! What are we coming to here?! Air down man that's the key in the "offroad snow". We did a very deep snow run (like 6-7 feet deep) years ago and had a blast. Warm clothes and boots are important, Sorrels for the snow are da bomb. Most likely if it's like it was in 94 or 95 which was a heavy snow year, there will be drifts here and there on the main trail, plenty of water in the usual areas, and the main snow we hit was after the Cadillac hill lookout. Besides if somebody already went though ahead of you..... you can do it. Just my 2cents.

I had similar experience in 91...early June. Deep water crossings at wentworth and the springs and the rocks were very slick from snow melt. No deep snow drifts until we got above the lookout on top of cadillac and we were the first through the drifts. Nothing really dangerous as I remember but deep water. I figured with all the rigs coming in from Tahoe, those drifts will be busted through and the deepest water holes on top have been worked on by FOTR to help drainage over the last couple years.
