Thought I'd follow up on this thread with some interesting information.

We ended up completing most of our trip without further incident having travelled North of the Arctic Circle and all the way up the North Canol Road. As soon as we returned to the Ft St John area with ambient temps around 30 C the truck behaved exactly as it had when the problem first surfaced...rough idle and wouldn't accept any accelerator input.

On the advice here and my Toyota Tech friend I had purchased a code reader and was able to plug it in while the truck was exhibiting symptoms. Had a bunch of Misfire codes on various cylinders as well as codes indicating that the truck was fluctuating between Rich and Lean conditions but the interesting one was one that read something like: "Insufficient Coolant Temp To Close Fuel System Loop". That's not a quote but it was something very close to that. Once it stalled, I looked at my overflow tank and found it was just barely at the 'Low' mark so we added a mix of Toyota Red Coolant (I had come prepared ;)) and water up to the 'Max' mark, started it right up and was able to drive for the rest of that day and another 1000KM the next day in similar ambient temps without incident! MY theory is that the low coolant level was preventing a sensor from getting a proper reading and was causing some untold havoc with the fuelling system. I'm going to discuss with my friend and see if he's run into this before or can provide a more detailed account of what may be happening under this condition.

Anyway, just wanted to follow up with this additional info. I will post in the other thread referenced earlier and see if this info can help anyone else experiencing a similar problem with their '06.

Cheers!

Great of you to follow up and I hope it is truly something that simple.
