Hi All - I decided to tackle as PM the elusive starter motor replacement on my 570 this am. What a wrestling match! In any case, old starter is out, new one is bolted up. The terminal connector that activates the solenoid has become brittle and the retaining clip broke off... So work has stopped until I repair it. I saw a youtube video where the same thing happened to a mechanic and he said to smear a bit of silicone on the side of the connector after it was inserted but this scares me.

This happen to anyone else and, if so, how did you handle? Anyone have the part number for the replacement (must be a common issue)?

Thx yall.

Also, since I had to pull the exhaust from the manifold to the muffler, do I need a new gasket for the flange that mates to the manifold or can I reuse the old one?

I’m no expert on reusing gaskets but given the PITA it is to get to where are and you have the old one out, I would install a new gasket. I don’t know the cost of the new gasket but ending up with a manifold leak after you get it back together would suck.

New exhaust gasket for sure. Order that along with the new terminal connector. No silicone.

doing this right now.

Zip ties right now but after getting the part number I'm planning on replacing it.
This is the part number. 90980-11400

use a new metal gasket.
