Hi all,

I'm at my parents' place right now about to leave for Chicago to pick up a used enclosed motorcycle trailer that my father and I will be towing back to CT.

I brought Techstream along to check my parents' truck ('06 with 120k) and lo and behold, C1762 and C1763 trouble codes with neutral pressures at 7.9 in the front and 7.7 in the rear. Truck seems to drive fine, AHC raises/lowers with no issue (maybe a bit slowly but not bad at all).

Are we ok towing an empty 7X14 enclosed trailer back from Chicago? I don't really have the time to think too much about this now, hoping the 'Mud community can chime in here.

Thanks

Pete

62 is a fluid pressure malfunction (pump & motor does not supply fluid) and 63 is also a fluid pressure malfunction (leveling valve doesn’t open). Seen the 62 plenty of times in systems with no faults or problems, haven’t encountered the 63 before that I remember, it’s possible 62 also triggered 63. Clear both faults and monitor is my recommendation. If there’s anyway you can lower the front pressure, which will help rear too, then you should do that. A 30mm socket/wrench and 5 clockwise turns on both TBs should do the trick.

Ha just so happens I’m taking a break from fitting new LBJs and bearing repack.

unfortunately I'm no Paddo, but the ball weight will be key, if the trailer load is well spread you should be fine, however if it overloads the back of the Cruiser it may default to "Lo" setting. Try minmize the amount of weight over rear axle.

@PADDO : That was my plan. Clear the codes and monitor. This is a bigger project that I can't start diagnosing now so I'll take some comfort in not hearing you say "abandon ship and order some OME replacement suspension!". I'm kicking myself for not bringing the breaker bar and the 30mm socket, but couldn't 5 turns on the front actually have put more pressure on the rear making towing a bit more dicey?

@Batlowboy : Thanks for that, we are usually pretty good about weight distribution but will keep a closer eye on it given the recent developments.

Thanks all, made it back to CT with no issues. It was a ~3500lb trailer (8X12X6.5) so we weren't exactly speed demons, but it towed nicely and we had no AHC issues. I plugged in to check Techstream this AM and the codes have not reappeared.

Their AHC fluid looks like it could use a flush and given the plans to tow this trailer with 3 motorcycles in it, I'm recommending my dad install some airlift bags. AHC took a good bit of work/time to level things out in the rear once we hooked up so I'm hoping some new fluid alleviates that.

All in all, a good trip and proving once again that an LC is a solid performer.
