Hello

http://www.goldcoastcruisers.com/ is having a club run on Rowler Flats near Castaic, Ca. on Saturday the 25th of March.

If you're coming from the Santa Barbara Area, or Ventura the plans are to meet at the McD's in Fillmore by 8 AM and then drive to Mike's Cafe for breakfast in Castaic. If you're coming up from LA, or points east we'll be there till 9 AM.

Since there's two ways in, CB CH. 4 will be used. Ron asked everyone to call (805-933-2206)and confirm participation the night before. Maybe we can discuss which place to enter here, and relay it back to Ron.

This will be my first run with this club, so if all goes as planned I will be saying goodbye to stock running boards!

Would love to have a big group of 80's meet us as well as 4runners.

Any tips, links to maps and referrals for dinner are appreciated as well.

Will you have new sliders on or do you plan on making them pretzel like on the trail run and have a good reason to buy sliders? :D

Very good chance I will come along since its close by - add a stock 80 on the list.

sounds good,

what kind of trail is this?

(and you guys checked to make sure all the trails are open, right...?:) )

Its a pretty basic trail, with a few rocks here and their-nothing to hard though. The trail was open in the morning for us, but for some reason when we headed back the gate was closed.

pretty at least? what kind of scenery?

lots of scrub brush, dirt, and scrub brush and more dirt :D an occasional rock, crevice, steep uphill and downhills abound
There are a few ways in and I don't remember any gates at them

I'm thinking of taking them off, but if I get lazy I'll use it as an excuse to get some Hanna step sliders soon cuz I munched them.

I'm bringing a cooler and micros at least. Maybe a burrho from the local mexican grub. Any chance for rain? looks like a fun trail for mud slingin turns!

I'm betting it will be, if not, I'll be watching from the side.
looks like it's mostly a fire road, with some good rain ruts by now and some rocks you'd have to aim for to hit. If there is any area that's tough from what I heard, it's obvious and there is a bypass as well.

you're welcome to join, all I ask is that you call the trail boss Ron at 805-933-2206 by friday night and let him know if you'll meet us at Mike's Cafe in Castaic at 9 am, or in Fillmore at the McD's at 8 am Saturday morning.

It's a club run, and I need to follow the rules, but they welcomed me posting it up here so we could spread the word. I think I scared him when I told him there was over a hundred views to this thread. Even though only 3 have shown interest.

you have lockers at least, I dont. I have the same tires and running boards on still, so maybe I'll come home with a new purchase plan if all goes well. LOL.

LOL, okay, I'll see about coming down. I'm about two hours from Castaic coming in from the San Joaquin, so for me it will depend on whether Tejon Pass is open or not. I probably won't know for sure until the last minute, so I'll be sure to give Ron a call if I can pull it all together.

Can't find a "Mike's Cafe" -- is this it?

Cafe Mike
31537 Castaic Road
Castaic, CA 91384

here's a map to Mike's in Castaic.

Be there by 9 am!

closest cheap gas?

theres like 5 gas stations and a truck stop on the same street as this cafe.. you should be able to find something cheap.

So I should call ron and tell him im commin...

Great!

yeah, if you would call Ron that would be cool.

He says it's 23 miles from the cafe where we plan on eating breakfast to the entrance for this run.

Any ideas on what the forecast is gunna be?

yeah, I guess so. Same rules apply as they do anywhere else.
Leash, collar, riding shotgun.

Give Ron a call and let him know where you'll be meeting us.

Everyone else:
can we get a roll call? who's in ?

Im in.
Ill give Ron a call tomorrow.
Im assuming the group is going to start at the South entrance? Are we saving the best for last? :D

well, it's close to a 2 hrs drive each way for me.
For those of you knowing the place, Is it likely worth that much driving (and gas :frown: ) to get there?
