Rowler Flats Run March 25th SoCal

This area is a good place to test what was discussed in this Thread as well as going up hill.

The Northern part of Rohwer has areas of steep (ruts and off camber) hills.
Since youre lifted and sliderfied (Hannas drooooolll), this would be more of an exercise for you in finding the hardest line to take. From what Ive read, Rohwer is not known for rock gardens or getting pin striped. Firsttoy and Echo29 has pics of their trip to Rohwer.

Two days ago - Regular Unleaded 2.61 (varies location +/- .02 cents).
Sams Club Member gas - save close to a dime .

Youre correct about the pics (hill) being steeper than it looks especially the North entrance to Rohwer Trail.

North Entrance - Im usually down at the entrance (deciding if to do it alone) admiring the view up .

looks like your typical SoCal dirt road...

how long does it take to run the trail, you think?

the good (?) thing about living on the Central Coast is that everywhere I go, the gas seems cheap (relatively speaking)...

There are bypasses to the difficult sections as said from past trail reports and trail map.

This will be my first time to actually go to the interior of the area. Im usually at the outskirts for safety as I usually go by myself and with my kids sometimes. Being in a group will afford me to try the difficult sections (relatively speaking) without having to worry about hiking home .

I cant really comment on the time duration to complete the run since this will be a first.

Just go Eric! More Mudders the better.

well, looks like I may be able to make it...

talked to Ron. Sounded like the stock rigs should be OK. No rock crawling, sorry, but you may still be able to total your RBs, who knows...
He said they should be back on the road by 4 or 5.

I dont think I will have time tonight to get the Running boards off. But I did get the following done today: brake pads and oil change and............the Damage Multipliers are finally off the front of my 80!!!!!!!!!

So I will be running a truly stock with locks.

here's a few photos from today's run.

At first the thought it was just a tour of eating establishments, since we met at a McD's, then drove to another cafe, but soon she was stoked as well. We came across a group of Hummers and they took up the whole staging areas watching a pickup pull out a Jeep, so we just passed them up and kept going. Not anywhere in sight the rest of the day.

We managed to go 23 miles on dirt, along the Pacific Crest trail ridge and back down some cool rutted and steep sections.

Afterwards we all stopped by Valencia Toyota and infiltrated their lot with mud covered trucks and pawwed all over the new FJ's they had left.

Everybody's favorite section was the last drop with a cool off camber section. I have it on video, anybody know of some video editing software that lets you rotate the frame clockwise? Anyway, I had a great time. Only one instance of carnage, lots of mud slinging by Israel and myself. Great Asada taco's by Danny, and generally awesome time thanks to Ron and Wally for setting up everything.


Can't wait to go back.

Lexiss470 - tells me that a stock 80 can do many things and you dont need lockers in most instances. I believe it.
e9999 - Im glad you made it (great to meet one of the well known members of MUD and thanks for showing me your rig.)

And by the way - Low gears are excellent on very steep grades
- I dislike dusty interiors but I really hate Mud!!!!!

I would like to take this opportunity to say thanks for sharing the trip! We had a good time and the latter part of the day, leaving, and the trip to Toyota were cool.
Always ready to tackle any kind of trail repairs that are needed, or, just tailgate BBQ!

Thanks! The blue Cruiser is a works in progress and it did make the Rubicon in June 2004. Here is a better pic.

Thank you to everyone who came and The trail bosses... especially Ron, a great guy….. It was a pleasure meeting all of you gents…. And it was a very fun day… not the most extreme off roading but it was a fun run..

Bluto- Anytime u wanna go for a run I’m down to meet you up….. and u thought a stock 80 might not be able to handle it… ;p good times… hope to see you soon.

Gracie wanted to go, but she's only allowed to drive within ten miles of home, and Happy runs off the road every time he sees a cat. Completely irresponsible.
