Round Hatch - anyone?

When I was in the back of the cruiser last weekend, I found this under the carpet.

Its a round hatch with two screws.

When I opened it, here was some wires or hoses going to some dusty thingy.

I'm sure someone knows what this is. I sure don't.

It's the flux capacitor

I think that is how you get to the fuel pump.
Yup. Toyota was smart enough to give us easy access to the fuel pump... unlike so many GM owners that have to drain and drop their tank for the same job, over and over.
 
Yep, fuel tank sending unit/fuel pump access panel.
Still can't figure out why the domestics won't put one in. But they did have fuel pressure ports in the 70's.

Thats still better than Ford truck owners who have to remove a cross member to access their fuel pump.
 
My Lexus has that same port behind the back seat. One of the easiest fuel pumps to get to ever! Thank you Toyota.
