Sorry for your loss. I just showed this pic to the wife..i've showed her others over the years, and i read her your sig line. She was shocked, and said "I'm glad you drive one of those to work everyday!!" She also commented that she'd take a newish UZJ in the spirit of safety...
I do have a tech question...what antenna mount did you use for you HAM set up? I have an ICOM 208H as my base, and plan on mounting it either under the driver's seat or on the center console somewhere. I haven't decided on whether i want a temporary antenna or just a folding one cut through the roof?

Maybe you're not ready to give details yet, but can you at least tell us how fast you were going when it happened?
A good friend of mine reflected that we come in to the world with nothing and we leave with nothing. Why should it be so shocking when we end up with nothing somewhere along the line. We need to rebuild and move on. It's amazing how quickly our 'something', no matter what it is, can turn in to nothing. Puts other things in clear perspective. Good luck!

First off I really appreciate this post. Along with all the others. I am coming to grips with this situation. It a healing process. The G8TR was a family member. Luckily she can be rebuilt unlike humans and will breath again.
Just gotta make some decisions about design and the rest..........................

reffug- sorry about your rig, but you are one lucky MF to have walked away from that. It is always tough to see a rig we've put so much time into damaged, but after you find a new rig and start parts-swapping from your old one, I think you'll find that the buildup will happen much faster since you've already been through a buildup once. Wow, after seeing the after pictures, I cannot believe you were not hurt any worse either...looks like the ARB deflected some of the force towards the outside...happy youre ok man and condolences on the loss.
