Some updates since it has been couple of years since the rotw. The stock bumper really gives no protection at all and i decided to pound out some of the dents in the valance and fenders using my body work tools of choice which are slide hammer, ball peen, channel locks and blocks of wood:hillbilly:.

I then covered up my less than stellar body work with some duraback. That rough texture does a great job of hiding "imperfections". "Wrapping around the front" doesn't look as good as the original duraback job that followed the fender/flare line but it covers the body work and covers all the stone chips and such.

Might as well armor up the back also compliments of 4x4 labs. Only one accessory (tire mount) for the time being on the duel even length swing arms. cut the exhaust and removed the resonator. relocated the license plate.

Couple more photos of the rear bumper. You will have to trust me that a new ipor skidplate also resides under the truck. That's all for now folks.

New shoes

Finally got some new tires. Nothing too extreme, just some basic 315/75 r16 Toyo m/t road tires that should work OK in the dirt and rocks too. I still have the ome 851/860 springs with air bags and 1" manafre poly spring spacers on all 4 corners so I built some 1.5" rear bumpstop spacers and shock spacers and spacers for the e brake and hard brake line. The front got 1" bumpstop spacers. It cost me about $40 bucks in aluminum at the local scrap yard. These should keep the tires from rubbing the outside edge of the wheel wells but should still allow the tires to stuff when crossed up.

Spacers for brake lines and a driveway shot. This setup will be tested in a couple of days on the Rubicon Trail. Sheet metal might be tested also.

Doug, did you get the 4x4 labs rear bumper already "complete" or did you weld it all together? Nice rig!

What's the retail cost for something like that if you have it done?

I applied blue masking tape then wiped down the area to be painted with xylene, scrubbed it with a "purple scotch brite pad" then wiped it down once more with xylene before I rolled on Durabak w/uv protection. I used about a gallon.

Had a little too much fun at Pismo Beach! Only a soft flop on its side. Wife and three kids and Dog were all buckled up so no injuries. No Broken glass. Just a caved in 1/4 panel.

Remove the interior trim crawl inside and literally kick out the dent. Bang on it with some hammers, rubber mallets and blocks of wood. Truck is still a bit more "wrinkled" now. It more or less buffed out.

What are your thoughts on rear elocker actuator armor?
Definitely would like to add some protection. Mine has rock rash but is still functional.

And, how do you like the air bags on the rear? did you do that to prevent sag when loaded?
Helps a lot when towing, Helps a lot after adding armor, need to fork out the dough for heavier duty springs, just have not got around to it. Band aid (air bags) seem to be doing the job.
