From the plates, he look like he is from Western Australia . . . . ;)

A 73 series for AU$3000? So it is US$2200 even in today's weak US dollar. That's it, I'm moving.

When I bought it the exchange rate made it more like $1800 US:rolleyes:
Got it off a dude that had lost his lic ,his job and his girlfreind in one week.
It had no brakes and no clutch and had numerous little things which I eventually sorted out.
It cost me the purchace price again to get it lic and on the road.At that point I could have sold it made $$$ but Im way past that point now:D and far too attached:wink:

Cool pics. Where are you from? Is that $3000 USD you paid for that sucker...? If so, sweet. I've seen that green 60 before too.

-Ferg-

Ferg that HJ60 is in Perth WAust .Ive seen it twice at 4x4 comps but never been able to speak to the owner.
I wanted to get a photo next to the canary yellow HJ60 he was parked next to last year but he never showed.
All that planning down the drain:mad:
Waiting whole year to photograph a cruiser,is this a problem:confused:

another question... how on earth Roscoe have you managed to keep your fiberglass fender's on the car? My club here in the UK have nic named me archie because mine forever break off and for £380 for each and every arch they're rapidly making me a poor man!

PJ ,do you mean the fibreglass wheel arches? They are nice and high and the front is protected to some extent by the barwork. One of the rears was smashed when I got it so a bit of resin and glass fixed it.
Most of my offroading is done on thick sandy trails or sand dunes, all the rock around here is just spiky crops of limestone that no tyre can cope with.

They cost about $4oo each so Im careful.
There are aftermarkets available for the 70 series but I havent seen anything as good as the oem yet.

How do you break yours ?

The tyres are 33x15z10.5 BFG a/t

my own break from deap rutts, narrow lanes and rocks. But what really annoys me, because they are good quality, is that the el cheapo arches ol' blight puts on their mighty 90 and 110 Defenender's never seam to break - and they appear to be garden variety plastic.

I've now decided to buy the bushranger flexi arches in the new year. I don't think they'll look as good but they'll be a dam sight cheaper to maintain. The other thing is that when I took off the remains of the arches they were hiding the beginning of rust. So I'm glad I'll be able to sort that out now rather than when it gets too much of a job.

How do you post pics up on the sight? I show you some before and after's...

When posting a reply, scroll down to "additional options" and then "attach files" to upload a photo. I think the file size of the photo is limited to less than about 90Kb so you may have to resize it. You can also hyperlink the photos if you have some webspace. Directions are here:

Rosco73: Just curious...are those "Aussie" brand bullbars that you have on your 73 by any chance? They look identical from the side profile to mine, and I've been trying to hunt down info on them. If they are Aussies, then they are probably the same aluminum construction as mine. Have you ever hi-lifted off of it, and did it cause any damage? Thanks.

I believe mine are dealer fitted. About 50% of the 7# and 6# series run these and a lot of the 80 STD
They were sill fitting them up to 75 series new about 5 years ago.No idea who makes them ,Ive never found any markings ect.I suspect a few companies have made them and got away with it by slight design changes.
Not a bad design but the welding is a little sloppy.

The side steps are a pain if you ever belly it in thick sand, but they have kept the floor edge and lower panels spotless:D

I dont have a hi-lift.I think they may take the weight if you placed it near the brackets, but maybe not:confused:
I have jacked it with a hydraulic jack but that was on the bracket close to the chassis.

Ill have an ask around as to who made them.
Do you have the tube and side steps?

Oh you mean hilift off the bullbar, not the side steps

I think your supposed to buy some special hi lift mounts that share the bullbar to chassis bolt.
Its strong enough but I think youll scratch the alloy surface.
Ive seen others glue carpet to the bullbar:D
