Roofrack light wiring route

I run the frontrunner slimline2 w/ a 43" light bar mounted under the rack. I ran the wiring harness down the driver side windshield pillar - theres a recess gap / channel that the wire fits in nicely. The harness stays in place with some RVT sealant. The wiring harness exists the bottom of my driver side windshield pillar and under the hood to my blue sea fuse block. I used some black zip ties to keep the wire secured to the rack where the wire exits the led light bar.

Curious how you secure the lightbar to avoid theft. Those bars are incredibly pricey, and I've always been concerned about ease of removal for a thief. Any hints?

I know some companies like Lightforce sell nuts that are keyed similar to how a locking lug nut is keyed. It won't totally protect it, but it might slow someone down. If they really want it, they'll get it!

Ya... Kinda what I thought. That's a LOT of easy value for the taking... :(

I have three small kids. My truck is either at work, daycare, my garage or on the trails. Other than that I keep a .45 handy.

Pretty much what Willie Beamin said. A few pics.

BTUMAN- I am running a K9 rack too. Is the bracket on yours made of the rack and if so, where did you get it? Thanks for the pics.

No, this is the Front Runner Slimline II- so their bracket. Just routed with strain reliefs along the way to prevent wire rub.

The rack is great. Very sturdy. light weight. Simple. Lots of accessories. Paul at Equipt recommend it to me over the frontrunner for my 4runner. www.equipt1.com
My only complaint is a whistling noise that I am trying to find. It didn't whistle on my 4runner.

That is one of the things that i have heard about roof-racks, they can be a bit on the noisy side. There are just times that being able to put stuff up top would just rock. The other thing i like is like you guys are talking about its a good place to put light. I have checked out the web site and think i need an awning to, lol

The K9 rack on my 4R isn't too noisy but I know it's there, but it's definitely worth having the real estate for gear. The awning = priceless.

I have the optional fairing for the rack but never installed it since the wind noise isn't an issue. That said, my exhaust is far from silent.
