Hello fellas,
I’m considering to get a Roofnest Falcon for my 2019 TLC. Was wondering if anyone has done this. Can I just mount the tent on the OEM roof rack?
If you would share some pictures that will be nice!
TIA

Did you mean OEM roof rack, as I'm not aware that OME made a 200-series roof rack?

The Falcon is pretty heavy @140lbs. From my experience with a RTT on my 100-series that shares the same cross bars, it'll work, but can be a bit flexy. RTT will tend to move up and down at highway speeds.

One strategy is to add additional OEM cross bars. At least 3 total, but 4 would work great for a more stable platform. The side rails on the 200-series are easily up for the task.

I'll be doing this with the GFC Superlite I should have in a couple months.

The OEM bars are strong, but have a decent amount of flex. I'd be prepared to expect a bit of wobble "feel" (but still secure) when moving around. This is on top of the small vehicle suspension sway that already exists when an adult moves around in a RTT at night. Falcon (very nice) is 2per so I think you'll be just fine.

FWIW, I chose the Front Runner slimline II to mate with iKamper 2.0 for complete roof rigidity (2 adults + 2 kids starts to add), flush fit, and ability to still mount 270 deg self-supported (no poles) batwing awning. Other racks like Prinsu (one of my fav's) vertical side rails didn't appear rigid enough for RTT+batwing. So if you ever think you'll go that route, keep that in mind. The iKamper's two track rails fit inside the Slimline tray (rack crossmembers sit 1/2" below the top of slimline perimeter tray). This way there is virtually no gap between outside of RTT body and top of rack. It looks like unison piece, not disconnected. This may be an aesthetic tertiary issue, but when one starts putting larger RTTs on stock racks a good way above the roofline of vehicle, there is a bit "that doesn't look right" going on. Best pic I could find from yr or 2 ago to show what I mean by unison.

I would love to see some more angles of your ikamper mounted. Been considering one that I could move between the Tacoma/200.

For mounting on the factory crossbars... Check out the 8020 thread. I ordered four 8020 extrusions to replace my factory crossbars but retain the factory mounted rack. Wanted a factory look but more utility. Could use as many as you want to create a solid load surface with a lot of mounting flexibility.

8020 seems like a perfect alternate solution! Thanks for the info!
