Finally broke down and got a proper roof mounted fly rod holder. It's the 4 banger extended length model from Riversmith. Easy to put together and solid as can be. Definitely need another person to help during the installation, that said I did it solo. There's a youtube video that is helpful and the printed directions are clear as well. It adds about 5 inches of

height so check your garage if you park inside. I spread the factory crossbars to the max as instructed. The convenience of having rods ready to go and not bouncing around the interior of my vehicle will be a nice change.

I run one of those off and on.

Take it from me...wait until your garage door is definitely fully retracted before driving forward...

How is the clearance? I usually park outside but with all this snow in Seattle I want to pull in the garage. Mine just barely fits but it is uncomfortably close. Have you seen anywhere that sells shorter mounts?

No, but I think you could modify the factory mounts and lose a few inches? It's on my to-do list.
