So its been sitting in the garage for 4 years now... I have little time and now little interest in turning her into a tube caged rock crawler for 4+ AZ trails. I had many years of fun with my 4x4 buddies but all have moved on from 4x4'ing and I still have my lifted & locked FJ80. I also don't want to part out as I'm busy as all get out and don't want the hassle. So if anyone is interested in picking up a project truck here in Chandler AZ, give me a holler.
I originally bought this 1989 4Runner SR5 V6 bone stock with 210K miles on it and a newly installed clutch for $5500. I drove it home only to eventually find out it had the infamous blown head gasket and a cracked head. I had a machine shop track down a different pair of used heads, had them inspected and rebuilt for $800 total. It ran strong ever since until my 16 yr old son made a left turn in 2nd gear doing ~25mph and rolled it near his friends house due to inexperience as he only had his license for less than 6 months. It had 248K on the clock at that point. As I mentioned, its been garaged ever since.
I've purchased and installed over $6K worth of parts into his truck.
List of off-road Mods (off the top of my head):
'84 SAS
All-Pro Hy-Steer
ARB lockers front and rear
ARB compressor
4.88 gears
Custom extended front driveshaft
V6 vented rotors and calipers
SS brake lines
Warn manual hubs
4" lift (leaf springs)
Rancho 9000 adjustable shocks
2" body lift
Currently sits on black steel wheels and 33" BFG Mud terrains
Front Alum wheel spacers to widen/match the V6 Rear axle width
Fab'd rear bumper (simple and beefy)
I've done extensive maintenance over the years to the engine such as new or rebuilt water pump, timing belt, alternator, AC compressor, 3 core radiator, black magic electric fan, etc., etc., etc....
As of right now, aside from the body work, I know it'll need new motor mounts, and battery. The neck of the radiator pushed down but may be okay for now. I really don't think it'll take much to get it running but thats just me. I never closely inspected it so ask away and i'll take a good look and answer as best I can.
I'll consider any serious cash offers via PM (unless you happen to have a '70-73 Datsun 240Z you'd like to trade). If not, I'll just keep it and work on it slowly over time. I'm not in any hurry.
