have some questions for you guys about a 6.2 swap into an 86 fj60, i was refered to you guys from the SC upstate forum.

are the sbc (post 85) adapters the same bolt patern as the 6.2 diesel? (i'm assuming the adapter kit hooks the LC clutch/pp up to the diesel flywheel)

will the sbc motor mounts/engine mount brackets be the same as the SBC (can i remove enigine mount brackets of of a chevy pick up with a SBC and weld them into my LC?)

last but not least, my p/s, alt, and a/c, can i adapt those to bolt to the 6.2 or will i have to adapt my LC to use the chevy accessory componets (i have to keep a/c)

I will be running this engine on stock tires, stock suspension and stock 4 speed. eventually i will upgrade to an H55 and upsrade the suspension but much later on down the road. (i have new shocks to install but have yet to do so)

thanks guys

I am in the middle of installing a 6.5 in a 85/89 FJ-60/62. Rob installed a 6.2 in his 62 a year ago.

The 6.2/6.5 use all the same adapters as the SBC. With the bell housing adapter you use a 6.2 flywheel and presssure plate and a Toyota disc, with the Marks long adapter you use both flywheels and Toyota clutch.
Rob has a Marks long adaptor for sale.

The motor mounts are the same, it is easier to use the after market mounts from Spector or Manafre.

It is much easier to use the Chevy accessories and adapt to Toyota than to try to Fab all the new mounts, plus the 6.2 uses smaller belts than Toyota so pullies will be an issue if you try to use Toyota accessories.

Hope this helps.

helps alot man. Thank you.

With all the heavy weight added from the GM 6.2 is the OEM suspension ok. I plan on eventually adding a dakkar suspensing with maybe 1-2" lift (for towing, not larger tires) but that will be much later down the road.

The 6.2 only adds about 60 lbs over 2F, a SBC is over 300 lbs lighter that the 2F.
