So I decided to jump into the deep end today and cut my entire exhaust off. Now the hard part of welding in a custom setup

I am hoping to have all parts by tuesday and maybe just maybe it will be back together for the weekend. I can then bring my truck out for a day, if, not I can copilot if anyone has a free seat.

Where did you get the exhaust parts, just wondering? Local?

Ok so plan for Saturday will be another local wheeling day at the trails near my place. Same sorta thing the turkey run. I would suggest we could find a spot and do some skeet shooting weather and interest permitting. We can run trails we hadn't done the last time too to explore a little more newer areas that some of you haven't seen.

nothing really yet, hoping Mopac has those "build your own exhaust" kits. spent time yesterday just mapping it all out. This is going to be a bitch... But better then the low hanging stock setup.

I grabbed some stuff from Cdn Tire yesterday but its garbage. Got lucky today job was basically a drive to Edson and back. Got a magnaflow build your own kit, cat, muffler, and hangers from Mopac. Let the fun begin.

Well its on, partially. Got the downpipe welded on yesterday, Over the frame pipe is welded, and JUST barely swings off the truck. Was really glad I didnt have to attempt to clamp that for future removal. That piece was quite interesting to fab up as it is a 45, 90 and a another 45 cut at some messed up angles... Cat and Muffler will be clamped. Figured it was a good first go at an exhaust and learn to mig
Going to look for some O2 bungs and get them on tonight, as well as the mounts, and the muffler back to the tail done.
Hopefully its quiet enough and doesnt rattle!!!

Then its off to Pauls to finish the "Paul-Fab" sliders

Looks great! How pricey was the kit. I need to find a couple 3"'mandrel 90s for some exhaust on a turbo 3b

The full kit was like $250 or so. Ended up being around $400 with a cat and some clamps. If you just need some 90's I might have a few left over when I am done. Wont know for sure yet. I might be changing a few things now... That muffler is pretty tight to the rear lower arm mount and the DS.

OK, I'm in... and I'm ready!

Got these tow hooks from Princess Auto! They look just like original.



And I made myself a rear hitch as well.



So if (when) I get stuck it will be easier to get me out.

Might also put the old Bias Ply's back on for Sat as well. They got lots of tread left on 'em!

Princess Auto also has this 2" x 20", 18,000lbs recovery strap on sale for $20 but I was not sure about it's quality so I haven't bought one...yet. Any thoughts?

Don't bother, buy a kinetic strap. Save your neck, and truck. They do cost a fair bit more though.

ASR Offroad has really good prices on them.

Although I am a big fan of the kinetic , I'll be the first to admit I don't carry one on my cruiser. I have one in my work truck and thats where it will stay. The size of the rope takes up valuable storage, And 95% of the time I winch myself or others out. Winching is just more controlled and safer. For a strap I carry similiar to what Larry shows there. I have really only used it to tow.my 2 cents

Well, I might pick one up then. For $20 I thought it was a good price, but was concerned about quality.

I wouldn't do any snap pulls with those tow hooks any way. I would buy one, they are always handy, use it with the quad?

True, but I drive a soccer mom wagon cruiser. No space concerns, just where to put it all. Which is my next project, after the locker, etc, etc, etc...

I prefer winching 100% to a pull for sure. I got my kinetic as a christmas gift. Mind you we princess: and I) share accounts so I guess it wasnt free. They are ridiculously effortless if you need to use one and I find for gentle yanks its faster than hooking up the winch.
