The rise is what will interfere with the swingout(s).
Yeah I agree on that. The swing arms are basically at the same height of the bumper step plate. So anything at or above that height would prevent the arm from opening. My 1-Up USA rack tilts down which is what I have to do to actually open my bumper arms. The extension is just to get the bikes behind the tire when all closed up .

to the folks who run with rear bumper swingouts: what hitch mounted racks have you found that work?
So far I've heard @terdrocket recommend Lolo Racks, someone else is able to pivot their 1UP down toward the ground enough for the swingouts to clear the rack. I really like the upright velocirax as an alternative to the Lolo Racks as it has a hydraulic lowering arm but that same mechanism is what creates too much vertical height along with other designs like Recon Racks. The Lolo Rack looks like you have to lay it just about against the ground to open the swingouts, which with 4 bikes on ain't going to be pretty. I have a Kuat and have tried fitting the Pivot V2 and the hitch extension but unfortunately the swing outs always catch it :bang:

My bumper came in today. I returned the riser/extender I had and bought a 2”riser 9” extender. I will see if that works with my Kuat

I am working on the finishing touches of my RLC install and wondered how far you all have shortened your tailgate cables? I plan to do drawers at some point so I’d rather not have to make cables twice. I searched around for ~300mm cables and didn’t come up with much, the Tacoma cables seem too short so custom it is.

Buy the wire and crimps and size them on the rig. They do stretch a small amount.

I’m finally able to start on my install. What is the consensus for where the wing brackets attach to the frame? I’m going to be modifying my passenger side bracket to fit around my ahc pump.

Good to see another LX570 install getting started.
My left (US Driver side) bracket has the reinforcement vertical and in the back/rear, pointing up. The broader, flat portion is forward and on the bottom. If you think of if as angle iron, the open side is facing the tire, with the L shape oriented up.

Interested in what you arrive at. I'm not very happy with my 'solution'

I have a hobby welder now that I did not have when I put the bumper on. Pretty sure I can make something better than my second attempt. Just not the highest priority at the moment.

post up some pics of what they do.

So after looking at install photos, it looks like the wing attachment on the frame is better if it is on the lower holes. The ahc skid plate fits right in the bracket I’m not sure if this is a redone bracket or not but I’m going to give it a go.

I have that bracket on the left (us driver side), but if you can make it work on the right and the other on the left and clear the ahc that would be pretty great.

I did mine opposite. Open side of “L” faces rear.

So putting the wing brackets on the lower holes thru the frame do work. I have the support side of the bracket on the front side of the car. I used a level and the top of the bumper and the sliders are parallel.
The only problem I have run into, besides my paint ripping off when I took the painters tape off🤦‍♂️, is the jerry can basket is firm against my hatch. Jason is going to make and send me something to fix.
I need to shorten the cables for the tailgate any suggestions appreciated🥃
