Ring that came with trailer hitch pin? (1 Viewer)

I’ve searched here and beyond but can’t find an answer to this potentially dumb question.

What’s the ring for that came with my trailer hitch pin?

It’s pictured below (photo purloined from another thread).

Could be wrong. And I don't know why it would come with a hitch pin bit it looks to me like a collar to put around the shank of a ball to make it large enough to fit a standard hole in a hitch. ??? Most 1 7/8" balls have a smaller diameter shank and need a collar to fit tightly in a standard hitch. Just found it. It's called a reducer bushing.
