Hi, has anyone done or seen a 07 FJ with rack crawler rims in 17x10

And what would be the best size and rim to get that would work with a OME lift and Mickey T's MTZ's in a 33x12.5 tire to get no rub and a good look on a silver FJ that i will not have to clean everyday like the factory wheels. Something that has a good price would be cool so i can go get that winch.
2nd with the ARB bumper is the warn 8000M a good bet?

Thanks for any help, i would post a pic of my ride like all others but can not figures out how , lol .

Factory black steelies :)

This is VERY valid on many levels, but the most important aspect is that a steel wheel has a better chance of surviving offroad...less gouging, bends vs. cracks, etc.

I don't think that 10" rims would clear the calipers would they? I was told by Mickey Thompson wheels that theirs wouldn't clear the caliper without spacers even at a 9" width. I went ahead and ordered 2.5" spacers from spidertrax as a result. still have yet to get the rims though. If 10" would fit, I would definately like to see some pics of that!!

From what i am hearing the rock crawlers are a real deep dish with the 10 inch wide, i had a set of 15x10 on my 74 fj and they were big offset.

Does anyone know if you have to have a minimum 17inch rim to clear these calipers on the 07 FJ's and how wide can u go to get the 33x12.50 tire on these things.
Mickey t says min 9inch wide. What size are the american racing wheels that the concept had on them with the black looking bead locks.
I am being told the using the factory 17x7.5 rim is a bad idea with 33x12.50 tires , makes the fj floaty and wears bad at centre of the tread, can any 1 comfirm any of this or offer some help.

Thanks

I am using the factory aluminum rims with 33's. They only measure a bit over 11" wide, though. I have almost 14 000 km on these tires, and they are wearing great! Zero rubbage, too.

I have the MTZ's on right now in a 33/12.5/17 configuration, with just the stock rims. No way they would have fit without spacers. I checked the width when I ordered them and the inside of the tire hits the control arm by about a half inch. New spacers= no more rub = wider stance = happier me. The verdict is still out on how the center will wear though on the narrower rims since I have only had them a month and they are a slightly more rounded profile.

Somewhat floaty driving at high speeds is definately true, but I have had no other rims to compare the ride to.

Are you running a lift yet and if so which one, the demo at the dealship here in town is running same tires with revteck lift turns out hey have no rub at all seems weird.

And Ryan i assume you have a lift to clear your tires, i am just wondering if i should say hell with it take the extra wear and spend on tires more often then pay now for rims to fit.
All your help and what you all are running is much help for sure.

Thanks

Nope. I don't have any lift. Stock aluminum rims, and 285/70/17 Goodyear MTR's. They measure 33/11.20/17. Zero rubbage on anything. I wheel it pretty hard, and have even taken the swaybars out for more flex. Still no rubbage. It's actually not even that close to rubbing.

I have the OME lift. The only differance that may be between the shop you are referring to and the tires I have on is the 2.5" spidertrax spacers I've got. The 33/12.5's don't clear the control arms with the offset that the stock rims have. I had to put spacers on to make them fit. Otherwise they hit the UCA by about half to 3/4 inches. you can see the wide stance that the spacers give my fj in the pic below. If the shop has the stock rims, than I would probably attribute the rub I am experiencing to the wheel sitting differantly in the well.

You will probably hear positives and negatives regarding spacers and it is really just a personal choice, but as for me, I love em, and the fj is more stable as a result of my installing them.
