Like most, I will be sorry to see it go and the person that ends up buying it will be getting a hell of a deal and truck.

Good luck with the sale.

Jack

Soooo your just looking for a hard core wheeler? Me no understand?????

ken

Im looking to build VIRTUALLY the same thing, only with a yota that is a bit smaller and lighter.
Im torn...there is no question. Ive been thinking about it for a while truth be told, especially since I started sourcing parts for the Vortec. Im still a good couple of thousand away from even starting, and the Rubicon trip last weekend sort of sinched it for me. I want my crusier, but totally smaller and lighter. That just isnt going to happen.
Im sad, but excited at the same time.
However, it isnt sold, and there hasnt been much interest, so....

K

Well Keith i must say im sorry to see you sell your rig but i do understand I will be turning my fj60 into a wild child so to speak i will be choping about 18 inches off the ass end and droping a tuned port injected 350 into as well with spring over regear and exo cage im not sure what exactly your looking for maybe a crew cab Taco but i think in all honesty your going to end up putting as much into whatever you buy as what you already have unless you find a good deal on an already built rig but thats just my 2 cents and i know about what the swap will cost you bud so i feel ya there i will be regearing my 80 to 488's by the first of the month i decided i just dont have the time to play with a v8 swap on that rig. Noa that being said what all are you lacking to do your swap in your rig ?

so you're looking for a 40. :D
You won't be sleeping in the back of it though.

BOB + a bored and rebuilt 3fe =:)

Don't do it.

There, I said it.

I too am in a similar boat, but have decided I must have 2 rigs rather than just one. I'm going to try and get a Samurai for the uber technical stuff. I just can't see trying to throw a kid and 2 dogs in a Samurai for a weekend of wheeling. So I will probably keep my Ramcharger for the milder stuff.

I propose we refer to this as;

The drippy solution.

Did someone say something about Drippy?:hillbilly:

If you have the ability, to keep the 62, it would be best. We have regretted many times getting rid of the 4runner. If we had been smart, we would have parked and stored it until we were ready for the rocks.

That was an expensive mistake.

On the flipside, sometimes, you got to do what you got to do and if that means starting over then you have put logic aside and go with what you want to do.

I know that Keith has been fighting this battle for a long time, no easy answers.

Jack

Sorry to hear this Keith! You need to come out and do some back-country exploring with us in your 62. That IMO is where wagons really shine. But if overland style exploring/camping/traveling isn't your cup o'joe then maybe its time to move the 62 downstream and get your buggy crawler thing going.

With NO interest, Im actaully considering trying to get a cheap "drippy" to build cheap and beat and keep the Blotch rig. Its no secret that Ive always really LOVED the minis and 4 runners, but I do REALLY LOVE my 62 even though its a BULKY HULK that drives me CRAZY sometimes.
Either that, Ill just keep building as planned, and try a diet for the Blotch rig. Ive been considering (since this decision) possibly chopping the back half top, roll cage and soft top, plus a wrap around extension off the bumper to protect the rear 1/4's better.
Might be tube bender time for my next shop investment.
Then again...maybe its the crawl gears that are the answer for better control in the tight stuff.
I donno. Well see. Ive got some CRAZY and EXTREME ideas going through my head on what to do with the Blotch rig. Were talking MAJOR surgery with axel re locations and BODY CHOPPING. Fortunately for me, I can do it myself. I figuring..."well...if Im gonna be buried in this rig...I may as well BE BURIED in this rig."

Thanks for the kind words and wisdom gents. This is a hard decision as you all can imagine.

Spresso,
I do like that type of wheeling and exploring. That is what the Blotch trip is, but there is nothing that gets me going more than having that rig cranked over on a boulder with my butt grabbin for seat cushion.:steer:
Aside from that, the 62 as it is set up with the motor and tranny, I would never be able to cover the distances that you and Jack do. The mileage is just SUCK in that thing.

WTF? What am I going to do without another blue wagon? Andy better build his quick. . .

Dude, what's up? Is it purely the size and weight that become a factor on trails like the 'Con? Or is it the cash that you think it needs in the future? You could get really creative with the setup that you have if you don't want to spend the additional money on the Vortec swap. . .

If a sale is what you want, good luck with the sale bro! I hope you sell it quick and get another rig to wheel.

Dylan

Ya its a size thing , you know some guys are not used to dealing with larger uhh..things..............

Poor bastid , I think there are enhancement products out there.....
:p

Big D,
Yeah...its the size and weight primarily. In order to get it where I want it to be its gonna be a bunch of time and money above and beyond what Ive spent already.

How was Rubithon?

K

So the rig is getting NO LOVE!
So I guess Im stuck with her. Guess Ill just have to build it more!

Thanks for all the advice and wisdom!
Things MIGHT get a little more extreme from here from a build standpoint.

Well see.

Nice, that is what I am talking about.

Let me know when the chop happens, I'll give you a hand if I can.

Also, are you going to look into building tube doors for the trail?

Can't wait to see the "next" version. :bounce:

Well, the MAJOR transformation will occur AFTER the Vortec, so it will be quite some time. I will most likely be planning on getting a tubing bender soon to start messing around with as Ill need it for the x member build anyway. Ill probably start with another bumper build...just as strong, but more protection and less over hang off the back. I have an idea to keep the dual swings even with tube.
Ive been thinking A LOT about this crap. Now maybe Ill be able to sleep again. :bang:
I do have a few questions for you Jack!
Ill have to give you a call and or meet up with you and pick your brain.

K
