I want to fit a snorkel to my BJ42.
But I am not happy about the long flexduct running across the engine compartment.

Now I have found a snorkel from Airflow, it supposely mounts to the right hand side of the car.
Landcruiser 40 series

Just to make sure I wrote the company asking clarification about the snorkel and got the following reply:

"Thank you for your enquiry
If the air cleaner is on the left-hand side the BJ 42 should be able to be adapted or the snorkel.
The reason we do not recommend the six cylinder is the air cleaner is on the opposite side to the snorkel.
The friction loss along the flexible duct overcomes any improvement that may be obtained.
The volume of the engine requires far more air than can be provided by the induction system of this snorkel kit"

Now I am really confused.
Is this snorkel for right hand side or left hand side?
If for Right hand side, and my aircleaner is on the right hand side of the car will it then work with my 3b engine?

Maybe I have just misunderstod something?
Hopefully there are some of you guys already running Airflow snorkels out there?

check my threads for I have his snorkel mounted on my right side of my RHD BJ42

it says it's not for the 3b...

Yes, but next line reads : Cofit snorkel body RHS fit engines 3B diesel engine 3.4L 6Cyl need longer flex hose for air pick up on LHS marginal

that is why I am confused.

That snorkel looks cool.
My only concern are that I know the snorkels are first thing to take a beating when wheeling in the woods and maybe the alu will be scratced or bent easylier than the ABS.
My airflow snorkel on my HJ60 has taking a lot of beating.

Well one more thing to decide;)

LOL, theres no way I am running my cruiser through the brush, I would break down and cry if I scratched it. This thing is very stout, I would recommend this snorkel for anyone, it is super nice

I know myself good enough to know that sooner or later I will use my BJ42 for what it is designed for.
Therefore keeping everything as solid and simple as possible.
But I do need the snorkel, I have one on my HJ60 and it have come to good use in more than one occasion.

You have a cruiser, that you will not risk scratching... and you need a snorkel?
