I hope people are writting to their MLAs about their concerns and voicing their support for the imported vehicle market. Business owners especially should be telling their MLA that they are concerned and asking their MLAs if they support this kind of big business lead attack on small business.

Done.

Update

The Candian Council of Motor Transport Adminsitrators (CCMTA) is currently meeting in Winnepeg bringing together dealers, insurnance companies, provincial transportation officials and the automakers. This year we do not have a IVOAC rep inside their annual meeting but we do have a friend there letting us know what's happening. The word from inside the CCMTA is that there will be a coordinated push during this meeting to get all Canadian juristictions to follow Quebec's lead. More letters to MLA, MPs and Transport Ministers (provincial and federal) are needed. A letter to the "new" president of ICBC wouldn't hurt either. Of course, if you see an news report regarding RHDs or imported vehicles, it opens the door for you to write a letter to the editor.

I'd simply let them know that age is NOT the issue, nor is whether the vehicle is RHD or not, the issue is that NOTHING in the current crop of vehicles offered in Canada satisfies our needs or desires and we will NOT be buying a vehicle that doesn't suit our needs. They can continue to throw up roadblocks but until they "get with the program" we won't be buying!

Personally I'll keep my trucks running until I like what I see offered new or I can get what I want used elsewhere and age is NOT a consideration.

If these clown take that stance then instead of 15 year old RHD vehicles we'll have 25+ year old vehicles! What would they rather have or do? CADA can get stuffed (ICBC too, except that we have to patronize them)!!

My trucks will NOT be scrapped until I'm good and ready to do so AND a suitable alternative is available (not that their ready for the scrap heap anyways :) ).

I've owned my '82 BJ60 since '88 or '89 because since then there hasn't been anything new worth buying!!
