Reverse osmosis alternatives?

Are there any reverse osmosis alternatives. I'm looking to buy a house that has a water softener and reverse osmosis water treatment. The water lines in the house are copper. I have been told, and found out online that R.O. wil deteriorate the copper lines. The toilet tank is showing a green tint. Will I have to replace the plumbing or is there a treatment for the water to stop further deterioration? This is holding me back from buying the house. I am going to get water tests from the well and the house to see if R.O. is needed and if the green tint is copper or not.

check into phosphate balls - we run them behind our Kinetico system and they are said to protect copper lines

Are you saying that the whole house is running RO purified water? If so, find out why. RO done right is equivalent to distilled water. The only time you normally want purified water coming out of a tap is when you're going to drink it, unless you're in Erin Brockovich-ville.

The area the house was in had a lot of geothermal. I put an offer on the house with stipulations. Someone else gave them a better offer. Oh well. Thanks anyway.

I have R/O in my house now, but the waterlines are pec. Before I had the system my water was orange. It can ruin all the faucets, sinks, tubs, appliances. There is nothing like having completely orange socks.

They recommend running whole house R/O through calcite to make it less aggressive. A acid neutralizer would work for this.
