Hi guys.I'm hoping you don't mind me posting in here, ive tried others but most forums seem dead nowadays.

I have a 96 toyota hiace supercustom (lwb hightop) automatic, running the 1kz engine.

I have a problem with blowing the fuse whenever I put it in reverse. I am trying to locate the reverse light switch on the gearbox but nothing that I have found online helps as mine seems different.

Could someone plz help by describing the location or better yet taking a pic of yours?

Thanks in advance.

I've removed some trim and had a look under the shifter but there doesn't seem to be any switches or relays under there. I might be missing something, will have a better look . I should ad that I've blown the same fuse in the past and fixed it with replacing the reverse bulbs. Not so lucky this time.

Any of these look promising? I do now realise I have an oil leak to tend to🤣.

this is the the PRNDL.
typically the reverse wires are the red ones.
unplug it. remove the reverse bulbs and check the wires for short to ground.

Oh ok so there is no screw in type switch on the gearbox, that is making a lot more sense now 😅. Thanks so much man, I'm going to do what you suggested and hopefully get some result 👍.
