anyone know what fuse the reverse lights are tied into. mine went out and it appears i have no power at the bulb socket. figured i'd check the fuse first, but i'm too lazy to pull them all and it's dark and cold out.

thanks for checking...i was hoping it wasn't the switch and shooting for stuff that's easy to get to first. guess i'll pull all the fuses and check and hope i don't have to try to get to the switch.

Getting to the switch isn't too bad. Pull off the shifter boot and get at it that way. It's a pain to get the bolts on the trim ring to align again, but it's about a half-hour job to remove the boot, re-seat the plug, and replace the boot. On mine, the pins in the male end of the plug had gotten pulled back out of the plug itself, so nothing was making a connection. I shoved them back in, and held the wires in place as I reconnected the plug, and presto! Reverse lights. :)

Otherwise, on my '84, I believe the reverse lights are on the turn signal fuse.

I've had problems with the driver's side brake light and it came off as a no power problem. What it was, the contact had worn down and wasn't making contact with the bulb. The quick fix was to add a little solder to the two contacts on the end of the bulb.

Worth a look.

Don't know for sure, but I don't think they're a separate fuse. I vote switch.

If this is your 60, polarweasel is right--take you're time getting the shifter boot back in place, and be smart about it--use something to align the holes in the boot with the holes in the tranny hump so that you don't stand there cranking into nonexistent holes, ripping carpet, yanking on the boot, and pounding on the hump screaming "WHY, GOD, WHY???! and crying like a baby, like I did.

Oh, and make sure it works before putting it all back together!
