Hi all. Just wondering if anybody knows of anybody making a good retractable step for Fj40's with big lifts. I finally got my running boards on today and its a really big effort for an old guy trying to get up in that thing. I still don't have my big wheels on either. Anyway , I just thought I'd check with the hoards to see if anyone knows of a good inexpensive product. I found a pretty nice one that is for like a 3 ton truck to get on the back of a flatbed. Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated again. Thanks, Dave.

Good and inexpensive? LOL. You only get to pick one.

These are probably just what you want, but not inexpensive at $220 each.

These are less expensive, but still $50 each:

I've got some 18" wide CARR steps on mine, $60/pair for open box on Amazon. Easily removed for off road use. 15" under them on my stockish height 40... So no clearance issues for all but the most serious off road.
