Hi, I have 2000 lx470 I bought a few months ago in pretty good shape (see picture), but the wheels are pitted and discolored particularly on the inside (side closest to the brakes). I've tried an aluminum wheel cleaner, that did almost nothing. Then I tried a rag with polishing compound, a little better but not worth the effort. I have new (bought by the dealer) 265/75R/16 BFG AT KOs on them so don't want to do anything that would adversely effect the tires or brakes and don't really want to take the wheels off of the tires either. I was thinking of using my mini Dremel with polishing (cloth) wheels and rubbing compound, followed by polishing compound and maybe a deoxidizer? I also don't know if the stock 2000 lx470 wheels were clear coated or not. If there's not much that can be done, I can live with the wheels looking like they are. I use this mainly as a DD and will do some light off-roading.

Any suggestions (well constructive!) including recommendations for new 16" wheels, welcome,

Best Regards,

Chuck

They look like factory silver powder coated from here. If so, polishing them with compounds won't help.

Try Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser. No kidding, they do wonders on paint. Will most likely work the same on PC finishes.

Thanks! I'll try it.

Tried it and it helped thanks! Wish they were just polished aluminum I could've buffed them out. It plus polishing compound got about half of it off. Going to try a drill and some polish then call it good enough. Going to use it off road so it can't be too pretty.

Thanks again!

Cool beans. Here's how they did on my scuff mark. I was amazed.
