Are there any century link folks here? I'm curious if I can test my home DSL line to figure out where the rodents ate through my line :bang: I'm aware of PING and the usual I.T. stuff but I wanted a real diagnostic tool/methodology.

I don't own any fandangle ISDN testers but if someone has ideas, please let me know. I've trenched about 400' (from the service pole to close to the house) so far and buried two new DSL lines inside a 1" PVC conduit and got another 150' to go. It's this 150' of old line where the rodents are eating through.

I live in the boonies so the best I get is 5meg download but it's been going up/down for a while. Century link fella came down and pin pointed the break with his doohickey so I ran a new temp line above ground to replace the old line. The online CL "test your line" deal did show that my line is messed up somewhere so I have another break somewhere.

Anyway, just trying to help myself out before bringing out another tech to my place. I'd love to find a cost effective diagnostic tool to know when I've fixed the break successfully.

Thanks.

Are you sure the problem is your lines? This 550’ of line.. What is it?

These cheapie TDRs work good to find footage to fault if that’s what you want to accomplish:
