After towing, the system will have pumped up the bags pretty good, and it SHOULD notice that the ride height is now taller without the trailer. It would then deflate the bags to minimum to try and reduce ride height, but because your springs are holding you up, the system will turn off at its minimum pressure. This is where the precise placement of the sensors come into play. You want to find that spot that recognizes a load, but also deflates to minimum without it.
You may want an external bleed to ensure enough air gets out of the bags, though.
