I'm replacing the clutch in the 55 on Sunday if anyone is in the 'hood and can lend a hand. The rattling is unreal in the trans so the bearings seem to be shot. Either way, I'm sure it needs it.

As far as tools, I have 3 screwdrivers, a mason jar full of pennies, a urinal, and a 12 pack of Bud. I think I'm set for the job.

I know it's summer so I'm sure people are busy so no worries if you can't make it. PM me for the address if you're in.

Looking forward to swinging a wrench and turning a hammer for the day.

i have a sledge hammer if that helps, :hhmm:john i think its time for a trip to sears to by some tools i might be able to swing out if i finish putting my Red Tide engine together on Saturday

I have tools. Any oddball ones I might need I can get a couple blocks away. Getting Shumates hoist today.

Don't think I'm doing the clutch now.

Picked up the hoist from Jason. Gassed up before i got back on 95, 3 miles later on the highway the truck dies going 70 mpg. Electricals are fine. Started backfiring. zero gas. I surmise that the gas station stirred up junk at the bottom of the tank.

Having only a urinal, 12 pak, and a mason jar full of pennies at my disposal, I decided to call AAA and get a tow back to Millis.

Looks like I'll be dropping the gas tank instead of the clutch. Clutch in it will last a little while longer anyway.

All sorts of good death stories from the tow truck driver. Beer will wash away all the memories of this week and his stories.

Big thanks to Jason for the hoist and some old fashioned parts tradin.

You still need a hand? I'm just down the road if you do.

Cool. Will see if/when I get it running tomorrow. Thanks!

If I'm not diving on Sunday I can fill the car with tools and come over. I dont think you were too far from my place.

Did you ever get the clutch installed? I'm free this weekend. Have the alignment tool.

I completely forgot I posted this thread. I was thinking Saturday would be the day. I plan on pulling out the trans and ancillary pieces over the next couple days. Could definitely use some help. Even if it's just getting it out and seeing what seals need to be done.

Bottom line, clutch is in a box in the garage so any help would be great!

Torque wrench! The pressure plate bolts don't take much to break!

Need to find the seals for the trans and the rear main. Will the local parts store have these or am I stuck with SOR? Perhaps toyota?

Your local Toyota stealership or Napa(or any other parts store) should be able get seals within a couple of days. If not Cruiser Dan or any of the Cruiser shops can help you out.

x2! They love us.

Was at Wellesley today picking up some odds and ends I ordered last week.

Ordered the seals for the xfer and the rear main seal. Toyota no longer has seals for the 4 speed trans so gotta go elsewhere for those.
