I'm on the search for replacement leather for my 1998. Grey interior. I'd like to go darker than factory. Has anyone had any luck finding such a thing?

Let me know how this turns out, because when my leather needs to be replaced I want to go darker, maybe perforated as well.

Hello All;
I have bought leather from Shane for both my 80 and my 100. I haven't installed the 100 series yet (comes after the supercharger this week) but the 80 is excellent and even the wife was pleased.

Shane at aatlas' kits are awesome. Recommend you have someone else install, took me 2.5 days for 2 rows. Not because they aren't cur right, but because upholstery Sucks. My hands hurt just thinking about it. But the leather is robust and way better than factory. Stands up to smelly muddy dog, as well as water intrusion.

Made my 200k mile cruiser look/smell brand new.

It is quite a sucky job.
Even if you have all the right tools it will still take you at least a long full day to do it.
Check with the shops before you order, as some shops won't install unless you order through them.

Has anyone replaced their leather on an LX yet? I know Shane is looking for an LX to borrow to make the leather kit but doesn't have one available for sale yet.

Shane and I are working on getting together so that he can borrow my LX and do the patterning for the leather for the LX seats. However, he has been consistently sick for most of January and February.

Hopefully we will be able to do this sometime this month or next.

Please send Shane get well notes / e-mails as he has really been under the weather.

I like hearing he can do custom colors...I really liked my dark brown/chestnut interior on my infiniti EX, but I don't think that would look good as a replacement to my tan seats.

What is so crappy about this job? Is it not just pulling it off and wiggling the new leather on?

What would a reasonable price for a shop to do it be?

You need to pull all of the seats out of the vehicle.
The fronts are much heavier than you'd think ;)

You then need to carefully remove any plastic trim on the seat, and this stuff can break easily if you don't remove it correctly. Then you must figure out how the oem covers come off. You will need some nice wire cutters to remove the hog rings. Probably need to use some of the metal braces from the old seat into the new seat. Put the new covers on and make sure they are lined up, then use your hog ring pliers that you bought and the bag of hog rings, and clamp on the new covers, making sure that you keep the covers centered. Then just reattach the plastic trim and reinstall the seat.

Then start the next seat, ha.

My dad owns an auto upholstery accessory shop. I have done seat cover replacement installs about 20-30 times when i worked there as a teen. It will take a shop somewhere between 4-7 hours depending on if there is anything difficult they run into. And this is for people that do this everyday. Price would just depend on shop labor. I think they sell front and rear kits, with install, for around 1100?

Didn't someone recently say that a certain year Tundra and 03-05 100's have the same front seats?
