After my loss on Saturday I am looking for another GX. Saved our lives and I don't want anything else(maybe an FJ.)

What states have you all had good luck in? I am in Michigan.

Thank you

Southern states are a good place to start. I'm also in Michigan. Lansing area. If you need any help, feel free to reach out.

Thank you. I am just south of Jackson. I had no idea there were other members this close!
There's just a few of us. Doesn't seem like Michigan has caught on to how great the GX is yet. I worked at the Toyota Tech Center in AA as a transmission engineer and quickly realized how legit the GX was some years ago. I know of one other fella in the Detroit area that has a lifted GX.

Seems like you’d want to get away from the rust belt...
Oregon and Washington (really Portland and Seattle) have a fair number of GX’s for sale at most times, for fair prices. West coast trucks have little to no rust.
I’ve also heard that Texas is a good market...good pricing and selection. Rust is usually not a concern, but be careful about flood vehicles coming in from nearby states.
Both are a bit of a haul for you, but maybe worth it in the long run.
Good luck

Small world. I have sent steel there for crash testing of some sort. I work for Alro Steel

I was considering a flight to TX for a clean dry GX. Flights and gas are cheap right now.

If anyone has done it this way did you find someone to look at the vehicle? Seems well worth it to wire a nearby member some cash to look it over.

Thank you,

The Detroit fella I mentioned fly to Florida for his. I think he had a friend check it out for him before flying down. I’ll have to ask him to confirm.

Right on. Crash testing is just down the highway at the Saline site. They’ve got a cool setup down there.

I second the West Coast trucks. Southern CA too but in general a lot of stop and go wear and tear. Texas Arizona and such are rust free but a lot of heat damage to the paint and interior. The SF Bay area north to Washington would be a good places to look, I have sold two vehicles (From CA) to people from the Northern Mid West and East-- the M-3 was driven back and the 1st Gen 4 Runner was shipped. Both owners flew out and were stoked about the rust free vehicles.

Thank you,

Bought mine from united auto group in Addison TX—they specialize in preowned Lexus models. They had over a dozen GX470s and a half dozen GX460s. They ship worldwide too so that’s a plus.

Most of the ones they had that I looked at had the timing belt water pump kit work done. He was very forthcoming on condition for each one and was honest on any issues they saw and what they didn’t fix—those were priced accordingly.

Mine was originally a Huntington Beach CA vehicle before coming to Texas.

I used to work at the Powertrain building (1588) before moving back west!

Small world! I worked at 1588 in 2015 and 2016.

Indeed! I was in the PCTE group on the equipment side. Was it still called DTE while you were there? I know some of the names changed (PCRTE?) quite a bit.

Yeah, quite a few group name and acronym changes. It was still DTE while I was there, but I think its changed since I left. I worked on the ten speed trans while also doing plenty of competitive baseline testing.
