There has been a problem with the floor shipment. Apparantly it is stuck with customs at Lahore who are not releasing it because it was labelled as old spare part which is not allowed in Pakistan.. The Fed Ex guys have given up on clearance. I will try my best to get it cleared on my own in the coming weak.

Ehsan, please let me know if there is something I can do on this as well. FedEx did not tell me of this when shipped. Unfortuantely, what the paperwork say's is 'used auto parts (floorboards)' which of course is what they are and no one advised me that this was not accepted in Pakistan. So, I am sorry that this has worked out in such a way. It was no small expence on my part.

Edit: Ehsan, I can scan and email the packing information if you wish it. Also, I have sent you an email as I am trying to understand what FedEx has done. It shows the package delivered on 4- 26 to M. Nazeer.

Hello there
You dont have to be sorry about anything. i know you have spent a lot and you deserve nothing but a brand new floor in your hands. :).. The dilevery has been made in Lahore. I am in Rawalpindi. I think it was delivered in name of some FedEx guy or a customs official. Do send an email to fed ex and send me all the documents that you have by email so I can try at my end. Lets wait and see if we can get this in our hands. .
Thank you
Ehsan

Ehsan, thank you for your kindness. I will be home tomorrow so, I will try and contact FedEx. This evening I will scan and email you the information I have. It is only one form. There is a second form that is "Commercial Invoice" that FedEx keeps one copy and sends the others on with the package. They may have that locally, if not then it only says the same thing as the copy that I will email you tonight.

Ehsan, I will email you. Apparently, the signature is from a 3rd party customs broker. I am attempting to get his contact information.

How much for a set of floor boards? I am new here and new to the FJ55 world. I had one fall into my lap. The running gear is great but the body is real rusty and no parts available. If you don't have any I'm either going to have my HVAC company make some or I know a guy that builds jet boats he will make them out of Aluminum. I also need door and window rubber.

Any body parts you can make would be great, I think you should make them out of Aluminium.

Only thing I can say, is it is being worked on...Life with Customs is well

Aluminum, not my call...but I think not.

Ok.. The floor piece that Eric sent is stuck with customs now and is non-recoverable because it has entered some legal twister. Attached are pictures of a vehicle I found here and that I will be using to make the floor panels.
Hats off to Eric for the effort he put in. You have my respect.

By all means - a very commendable effort Eric! - sorry your floors did not make it into safe hands after all your sweat, possibly blood and tears. On a more positive note - nice find Ehsan - looks like that 55 has been through the ringer x2 - but floors appear largely intact? I have a slight suspicion that Eric's floors are being welded into a custom's official's pig as we speak:hhmm:

Ehsan, keep in mind should you try to use these floors and dependant on how much of a section you intend to reproduce that they sit effectively opposite of the left hand drive here.

edit: That is most likely obvious to you but I thought I should say it to be safe. That is certain rib spacing etc. is different.

Eric, that Sux.........Ehsan; had a similar problem in another country with customs and a shipment of machinery...had to grease a palm with some cash but things went very smoothly afterwards; any thoughts on this?

That is a possibility. But I can buy a whole vehicle for just a bit more then what the grease would cost. I am trying to see if I can pull some strings to get it out without the greasing.. :)

thanks for the follow up Ehsan; let us know if there is anything we can do on this end......

IMO the ribs are important for the rigidity of the floor; Toyota mechanical Engineers who are a lot smarter than I am would not have added them if not necessary..........there are others who have gone the straight sheet metal route and if it works for them; great:).....but just would like to get the replacement w/o the "tin can" effect...................have a question for all that are needing floor panels (most of us):frown: has anyone been able to compare both flat sheetmetal vs ribbed patches on a pig?.......have done it on other cars and was not happy; maybe am too damn OCD:hhmm: my 0.02

I Agree about the ribs and getting the popping when the body flexes. I will talk to my auto body guy.
