Replaced TC now stuck in 4L?!?!?!

My 60 went through a bumper to bumper surgery. After replacing the transfer case seals, it is not coming out of 4x4.

Technician redid the gears while I sat and shifted from 2H, 4H, and 4L. It seems to be ok and when we go back to 2H on the shift the 4wd light comes off but the sucker is still stuck or should I say when you drive it still seems to be on 4wd. The front hubs are not on but 4wd still seems to be engaged. What the "Q#$??

Ummm, what signs have you that it's "stuck" in 4wd when the shifter is in 2Hi & light off ?

If it's "high power & low speed" could be xfer gear linkage not working ( you're in low xfer, but can shift between 2wd & 4wd)

So how do you know if it is not working. When we relinked it was going into gear?

Make sure the high low shift rod doesn't have enough endplay to lose contact with the shift rods.

Nope. It looks good. If I take the Transfer Case off again then what should I look for?

Get under it while someone shifts the tcase. You should see the 2-4 rod moving in & out & the H-L arm turning. There's adjustment for each.

The high/low shaft that goes into the transfer can be pulled up being sure the lever is in low pos. after the link is loosened and slid down on the sft and retightend afterwards.
