Indy mechanic suggested replacing the coils while he is doing the starter. Truck has 200k, and as far as I know, they are original. Thoughts?

Spark plug coil packs? I can't see how those two maintenances are even related. It's not like those come out to replace the starter...

If she runs smooth, doesn't miss nor lack for power when you put your foot in her:whoops::censor:, leave the coil packs alone. IF you run into coil pack issues later, they're bonehead easy to replace...

As was posted earlier, they have zero to do with the starter...iow it's not analogous to doing the water pump "as long as I'm in here anyway" on your way out of the timing belt.

Sounds to me your mech may be stepping on the job just a little.

That's all I needed to know. Thanks! He only quoted me 480 to replace the starter (minus the part) so I'm still going to have him do that. This will be my truck's third...

The price is definitely aggravating, but I don't have the time to do it myself. The next lowest price quoted was 720, followed by 950...

If you were in Idaho we'd already be done.;):banana:

Hope your mechanic does a good job.
