And since your a West Aussie any idea on the best palce to source parts and what other toyo model parts are compatible!

Cheers

It will be useful for the brakes ,steering and electrical.
I use Odin auto parts in Balcatta for small generic parts. For more specialised items I go to https://www.4wdparts.com.au/products.asp .
My favourite wrecker is Midland 4wd.

You can use a lot of 60 series electrical parts, the aussie spec FJ60 and FJ70/73/75 series share an identical wiring schematic but with the Ford V8 it wont be so simple.
The brakes and drive train are the same as a 60 also
Just beware that a lot of parts shops will confuse a FJ73 with the Bundeera.
I always ask for parts for a FJ75 when it doesnt matter ,its just easier sometimes than trying to explain what a 73 series is;)

A 73/74 series uses 60 series springs on the rear and 75 seres on the front.

EDIT The manager at Odin auto parts buys up clean factory manuals for all types of vehicles including landcruiser and resells them at reasonable prices;)

Any idea where the best/cheepest place to find a good manual for a Jap BJ74 is. I am in Canada

I like the guys at gscruiserparts.com They are in on this forum often and always have good advice. They have helped me out a couple of times. I think they sell reprints for around $50, but do not quote me on it

Whats the difference between the 73 and the Bundeera? I guess my main concern is do they share the same chassis, as I have just ordered a reese hitch and the 73 FRP model came under Bundeera.

James
The 73 runs all the 75 running gear. The difference in engine is only with diesel. they run a 3.5litre 3b diesel instead of the 2h that 75s run.
The bundera runs all hilux running gear with a 24 engine.
The tow bar you ordered will fit as 73, 70 bundy and 70 leaf sprung are the same width and are the same at the back.
Here is a pic of the 70 chassis. I have the 73, 70 bundy (coil) and the 75 if you want. They were to big to put on this page.
Cheers.
Dave.

Anybody knows anather web site that hace the manuals for the 1985 FJ70...... always for free.

I dont believe there is one. The best you can hope for is a mishmash of 60 series manuals ,Toyota gearbox manals and the blow up parts pics on that French site.
Almost nothing that is 3F specific

Would a gearbox out of a petrol 73 fit into a diesel 75. Sorry it's a bit off the subject but you guys seem to know what you're talking about.

It will only fit a 2H diesel as the input spline is the same length and has the same spline count about 10 or 11.
The 1HZ ,1HD T are 21 spline nad a longer input shaft .
