Replacing my driver lower control arm soon. Stock one has a bend in it.

Cannot find my FSM since the move so i'm just making sure all I have to do to separate the torsion bar from the lower control arm is unbolt the nuts on the housing and remove the bolts.

One of the bolts cannot be removed without removing the entire LCA, the other you can slide all the way out with the LCA in place. But once you undo the 2 bolts, you can slide the T bar bracket back on the t bar with a brass drift and get it out of the way.

Never done this before but release the tension first!. Loosen the torsion bar adjuster bolt located under the driver seat. Count the number of turns to completely remove the nut off the adjuster bolt. Also, mark the torsion bar to adapter mount connected to the control arm.

As somebody said, make match marks on the bar and the two places it slides into, it will get the indexing right.

Most of the mud threads that cover the steps are to about reindexing the t-bars. I recommend to spend time searching for those as they have kept me outta trouble and saved time.

Release tension.... release tension..... be safe this thing is under a lot of twisting force.

Also look up the threads in replacing the lower control arms and piece together the steps that apply to your needed work.

Arent they keyed anyway

I think if the tbar was keyed to the control arm bracket you would not be able to re-index them to adjust. There is a flat area in the tbar splines (going from memory) but it’s not a key.

Correct it’s not a key just a Reference point.
